Our Costco has 1.75s of Remy Martin VSOP at (I think) $93. Too bad they won't fit in my liquor cabinet. Also I've already got plenty of brandy/cognac anyways. At any rate, I think it's a better deal than Macallan-- there are plenty of other, better scotches at the same price point, IMO.

My Costco (in Fort Wayne, IN) had a fair bit of tuna left yesterday, both the 12-packs and the giant foodservice-sized tins. I picked some up. No toilet paper, but fucktons of paper towels. We just opened up a new 12-pack, and one of those things lasts my wife and I months, so I didn't bother. No brown eggs left, only white ones, and limited to 1 per customer. Sugar and flour were down to bulk bags of 25-50lbs, limit 2. We had just run out of sugar, so I had to make do with a 25er. Plenty of dairy, fresh/frozen meats and vegetables left. Lots of booze left, but they ran out of Teeling; all they had left in terms of Irish whisky was 1.75L of Jameson's and KS Irish whisky (which I've heard isn't that great, unlike their scotch and vodka).

I made my last run on Wednesday, and there was plenty of flour--not just the huge 50 lb. food service bags, but 10 lb. bags as well. Also I managed to finally get some toilet paper; a good thing since we were starting to run low. Only basic item they seemed to be out of was chicken. Had to get that at a different store.

Grand Fromage posted:I believe something happened recently reducing the vanilla supply as well, but can't remember the details and I am very lazy. It's been that way for a few years at least; for a while I think it was $30-ish. My impression was that it's the effect of climate change on major vanilla-growing regions.

I really miss the take-and-bake pizzas. So much better than the food court ones.

On one of the last few trips I made, my Costco did carry 5.5 lb bags of a dry bean/pea/lentil mix, fwiw.

ShowTime posted:You should really just put it on some white bread with a slice of american cheese and some mayo and call it a day. When I need fancy mushrooms for cooking, I usually buy dried ones and re-hydrate them. The other day at Costco I saw 1-pound packages of fresh chanterelles in the refrigerated section, cheaper than buying the equivalent weight in dried ones elsewhere. I was going to pick some up, then realized I didn't have anything to cook that was going to require a whole goddamned pound of chanterelle mushrooms. What I'm trying to say is that I need some cooking ideas so I can justify buying a pound of chanterelles. Meaty Ore fucked around with this message at 07:53 on Dec 14, 2020 |

I think Medjool dates are about half the price per lb. at Costco that anywhere else I can buy them. Of course the packages are much larger, but wanting fewer Medjool dates is something which I cannot fathom. Also, I've had better luck buying good, ripe pears at Costco than I have anywhere else for some reason. Usually if I look anywhere else I can only find them hard as rocks or overripe, mealy and/or turned to mush in that way that only pears can manage.

This is why I'm trying to switch over mostly to chicken and pork; they're still reasonably priced, for the most part. Beef prices have gone absolutely bonkers everywhere.

I got the 1000-piece Costco puzzle for Christmas. My wife got a two-pack of ThermoFlask bottles from Costco. Our 6-month-old niece got a set of wooden toys from Costco. My brother-in-law's dog got the four-pack of Costco dog toys. Church has been good to us this holiday season.

Costco has finally answered my prayers: they brought back the two-pack of 16 oz. Grey Poupon jars. I go through more Dijon mustard than any other condiment at my house and it had been discontinued (at least at my local church) for years. But, it's back! PBUC.

It was my birthday today and I got my cake from Costco. One of those rectangular Tuxedo cakes. I thought about the 10" chocolate cake, too; they're good but they fall far short of the glory that was the All American Chocolate Cake of days gone by (RIP).

My wife and I just had a romantic candlelight dinner at home consisting of a pepperoni pizza from the Costco food court and Kirkland Signature bottled water. I mean, our power went out in a severe thunderstorm last night and didn't come back on until an hour ago or so. At any rate, Costco was there for us in our time of need, PBUC.
