the costco in gypsum, CO is amazing. I was one of maybe 10 customers in the whole store. I longingly gazed at about $5000 worth of poo poo in the center aisles before leaving with $20 in food. I also got two (2) dogs on the way out the door and now my blood tingles from all the sodium. I expect to start speaking in tongues at any moment

Does anyone know if they do something like brine their rotisserie chickens to make them taste so much better than other grocery stores?

Also what does pbuc mean??

they take USDA grade A birds at the processing plant and inject them with ~10% brine solution. they arrive at the costco ready to 'tisserie.

every pack of chicken has a plant number on it, put that number into this piece of internet and it'll tell you where it came from: https://bit.ly/2AJ8i8y

it'll be a P followed by a 3, 4, or 5 digit number. depending on where you are in the country the kirkland brand is probably either perdue or pilgrim's pride.

I have renewed my faith with the costco credit card. my first purchase with the card was the take and bake Mac n cheese and a second helping of the ex officio underpants. may the savings rain down like manna from heaven, pee-buck.

today I threw a party for my three large sons. costco supplied the tremendous sheet cake (customized with their names, serves 48 guests for $18.99), all of the drinks, the veggie and fruit platters, napkins, plates, silverware, and I think several presents that the guests brought. slam dunked a dog in my maw before carting the loot to the pool, and an happy day was had by all. pbuc

I spent four hundred dollars at costco today, but aside from the bitchin sauce and the stroopwaffels (COSTCO HAS STROOPWAFFELS), I can't remember what I bought. I am currently wearing the container of bitchin sauce like a feed bag for a horse, and I believe I have finally achieved samma vayama, step 6 on the eightfold path

when I started my job, I trained in the facility that produces those rotisserie birds (long before costco set up their own). my job was to grade the whole body chickens before they entered the injector and eventually the cases that went to costco. we would not allow feathers, bruises, broken bones, or any inferior product. for my current job, I have to occasionally do surprise inspections on the deli department and make sure that the birds being skewered on the rotisserie are only the finest USDA grade A quality. your lovely birds from kroger don't get that.

I thought the biggest pack they had was 5 dozen!

I am a professional egg toucher so I have to climb out of the sewer whenever anyone talks about eggs. most costcos sell 1 dozen and 2 dozen cartons, 5 dozen boxes and/or overwrap, and a 15dz box. the business centers also sell 30dz boxes. you should only buy the ones that have a usda grade shield on them (not all do). well thanks for reading the post everyone, I hope you all enjoyed egg chat

the two dozens are a great deal and high quality. the 1dz and 5dz aren’t always USDA graded, so check for a grade shield. if there isn’t one, skip it.

The worst one is the antibiotic free sticker on chicken. Chicken in the US isn't allowed to be pumped full of antibiotics, and all the stickers have a little asterisk that says that. But people don't read and still think it's a thing.

you’re thinking of hormones, antibiotics are fine but generally used sparingly. less than half of chickens get antibiotics, advertised or not.

the rotisserie birds show up at Costco raw and injected with brine, the bulk raw parts/birds aren’t unless the label says seasoned, marinated, or something like that
