Question, are those coupon mailers actually coupons or just ads showing what currently has big discounts? I threw mine out thinking it was just a monthly ad. Did I just miss out on savings from our lord?

Also, fun tidbit: I work for a staffing agency that supplies the company that makes the Costco pizzas. The pizza making facility is really awesome on a technical level but poorly managed so I hope there is no shortage of pizzas any time soon :ohdear:

They are in the stores around Chicago, unless you mean some newfangled flavor.

Do the flannel shirts run smaller, larger, athletic or normal fit, etc? Like, my button up shirts from Old Navy are large size & regular fit, would a large flannel shirt fit my pre-corpse the same ?

Flannel didn't fit me too well, my stomach is too loving fat. Guess they are trying to convince me to shed some more weight!

Sherpa blanket is extremely good. How are Costco's pillows? Might as well go all out here on bedding.

It's ok buddy, why don't you sit down and relax with a couple dogs.

I'm heading to the church today to exchange a belt for a smaller size and get some pillows. Might get some dogs there and just grow into the belt I bought.

My Costco has them, but they're already just about sold out. I bought it last year and was very disappointed. Only like 4 or 5 of them are good and the rest suck.

Sucks to hear, but good to know ahead of time.

I saw them last week and was in awe until I saw the price, then it was the bad kind of awe. $70 is out of control.

Today I went back to church and learned that signing up for membership auto-renewal nets you a sweet costco backpack filled with a big roll of paper towels and a small bag of goodies.

I was stuck between the 2016 Honda Fit and Civic when car shopping a few years ago, and sprung for the Civic. The 10th Gen Civics are absolutely fantastic, and I barely notice a difference in cabin size compared to my old large adult car, a 2003 Accord. I recommend the Civic over the Fit but its a close call, the Fit is still a great bang for your buck. I'm pretty sure Costco sells them in a 2 pack anyways

what's so special about this steelcase

I looked at pics and it looks like...an office chair

I've been working from home since the pandemic started and was sitting in an old lovely $75 office chair that was falling apart and hurting my back/neck no matter how hard I tried to sit straight. I got a Steelcase in September because I kept hearing about them and an office supply store down the road had used ones for $300. I've never felt better sitting in my chair, and the thing is extremely adjustable. I lean hard on the armrests and they show no sign of wear at all whereas my old chair started getting hosed up immediately. Even when I slouch in it like a lazy gently caress I feel great.

It also really helped that my office offered a stipend up to $300 on WFH purchases so it was mostly free once I factored in sales tax :toot:

Seriously though its a great chair and always invest in your most used tools.

Hmm! I do not have those, do they come as rings in a jar or something?

I've been using this recipe and its great: https://www.rachelcooks.com/how-to-pickle-red-onions-in-five-minutes/
I personally sub apple cider vinegar for white vinegar and use a little less sugar, as well as get the salt/vinegar/sugar/water mix to a simmer before pouring over the onions.

quote:

INGREDIENTS
1 red onion, thinly sliced (use a mandoline if you have one)
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup hot or warm water
INSTRUCTIONS
Slice the red onions as thin as you can. I use a mandoline.
Stuff all the red onions in the jar of your choice. A bowl will work too.
In a measuring cup, combine apple cider vinegar, salt, sugar, and warm water. Stir to dissolve the sugar and salt. Pour this pickling mixture over your sliced onions, making sure they are immersed in the liquid, and let them set for an hour. After an hour, cover and store in the fridge for up to three weeks.

That’s a bit high but he wasn’t kidding that WFH completely obliterated the used chair market. You’re just lucky you found something functional and works so I’d consider that a win.

I lucked out and was able to get a like-new Steelcase Leap 2 for $300 from a used office furniture warehouse just down the street from my old apartment, a few months into the pandemic. They are really solid chairs.

Bought a rotisserie chicken today at Costco, didn't realize a hole was melted into the bottom of the container until I got home. Now my car is going to smell like the church's incense for a long, long time.

Good thing I had floor liners to absorb all that juice.

Chicken bakes are too bready and bland for my taste. Hot sauce would help probably but they just aren't very good.

I tried my first chicken bake yesterday and this was my though too, although cholula didn't help much. Maybe a different sauce would work better though.
