Technically correct is "just barely true". Correct, but misleading, irrelevant, confusing, or entirely missing the point. In reality the worst kind of correct, but the quote referenced is by a bureaucrat so would prefer the opposite.

The "lesser" equivalent for most western nations is always better, politically at least. Canada v US. Ireland v UK. Nz v Aus. Scotland/wales/NI v England.

Men at work are okay, but i wouldn't call them the best. Maybe listen to some Powderfinger.
And while I'm not familiar with Peter Gabriel it's probably unfair of you to call them the worst.

Car centric cities like LA or Sydney suck to get around without a car. Well LA asa tourist was bleh. Living in Sydney, you take ppublic transport to work because that's about the only ppace ypu can get to reasonably using public transport and driving in peak hour sucks. But then getting anywhere else just drive, even though the traffic still sucks.
Being a tourist in London, Paris, New York I never felt like it was hard to get to anywhere I wanted even if getting from abbey road to kew gardens and then to WB studio was a bit long.

Sydney is LA with a harbour. Same solution required.
I went to LA to meet people - San Fran was much better in every regard.

How is New Years any better?

But I'm in favour of more public holidays - the more time off the better.

Edit: best Bond songs?

3: Casino Royale
2: GoldenEye
1: Skyfall

Live and let die, Nobody does it better.

If you want unpopular opinions, esquire did a ranking of all the songs and had You know my name as the worst. I didn't bother reading any further.

Also, Daltons films are good, and the further back you go the harder the movies are to watch due to being problematic.

It's the same with Brosnan, the first one they did was good with a good song. Then the movies got worse, music was up and down. Brosnan had fhe stupidest movie with the worst song though. Craigs never got that bad, yet.
Lazenby was the only one to get it right. One and done.

Someone saying "I don't like the band Queen" is a pretty big red flag for me to avoid having a conversation with them. I don't even like them that much, heck I probably only know the singles but those singles are some of the best songs in popular music history and hating them is weird.

Queen is probably the best band with the most forgettable albums. Probably 2 or 3 great songs per album at best - but those songs are really great.

the period in music i dislike the most is probably late 2000s to early 2010s style indie rock music. i actually listened to that stuff at the time but i now hate it very much, things like arcade fire and like crappy icelandic bands and beach house and battles and whatnot. i also do not like lady gaga and never have.

Arcade fire was always a coma inducing borefest - maybe my most strongly held musical opinion.

We Will Rock You is not a good song, but Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are the Champions are pretty good songs.

The statement earlier about how Queen only has 2-3 good songs on each album might be true for most of their 80's albums, but IMO most of their 70's albums are better than that.

Like you say, Sheer Heart Attack & Queen II are great, but IMO A Day at the Races & A Night at the Opera are also pretty solid albums as well.

Conversely, i reckon there are more good songs per album in their last ones. I did try to listen to their albums after mostly hearing the singles, starting from the early ones going forward and the albums didn't really grab me.

JollyBoyJohn posted:

That is an incredibly low bar for a good album

Yeah, like Led zeppelin's IV is all great songs, As well as Back in Black, The Colour and the Shape, Wasting Light, Sixteen Stone, Purple. I feel like it's only a good album if you're going to listen to the whole thing and not feel like skipping any songs.

Well, this is the Post Your Unpopular Opinion thread. The 80's Queen albums are usually considered to be worse than their earlier ones. I tend to agree with popular opinion, although I have only listened to a few of their 80's albums.

edit: Their first album, Queen, is not great, IMO. Queen II, uh, their second album, doesn't have any songs from their compilation albums, I think, and is a little more progressive-rock than the songs on their compilation albums, so maybe it is a polarizing album. I like Queen II, or at least I did when I last listened to it.

The 70's albums after Queen II, however are usually considered to be their best work, and most of the songs on their compilation albums are from this part of their body of work.

Seven seas of Rhye, the second version with lyrics, on Queen II made it to the greatest hits. First album didn't get anything onto the hits. Greatest Hits 2 is almost entirely from 3 albums plus Under Pressure. Those albums had more singles I guess.
