The American Prohibitionists are often depicted as naive housewives imposing Christian morality on an unwilling population. I’m not disputing that prohibition was a failure, but I can definitely sympathize with them and think that it wasn’t a crazy thing to try to pass. If I were a woman of the era, seeing how men would drink themselves into the grave and neglect their family I think I could definitely back a push against alcohol consumption. Most important for me perhaps would be the link between drunkenness and violence, especially domestic abuse.

I haven’t seen a single person criticizing Adele for losing weight, just dozens of posts pushing back against these critics who I haven’t seen exist. I feel like people are running away with an imaginary problem.
