Hey America. Happy Thanksgiving. Remember the late 90's and early 00's? Weren't those just GREAT times? So I'm donning my hoodie I bought now 16 years ago and thought... I miss Nu-Metal. I like a variety of music but something about that music just hits that sentimental rosy-sunglasses spot in the cockles (or sub cockles) of my heart. God to be 13 or 14 and so full of angst and just thinking how Korn spoke to that special part of you. I listened to the piss out of Issues back then. So.... I thought I would bring to you, dearest beloved Goons, a thread to share our love, hate and shame of Nu-Metal and whatnot of the late 90's and early 00's. Feel free to post videos that you think are "sick" and/or "awesome" or "gay". Doesn't have to strictly be Nu-Metal but lets try and stick somewhat close to time and genre. Feel free to throw in some leetspeak just for old time sake. God I'm old :corsair:

My personal top two songs from way back then plus another I like

Deftones: My Own Summer Have to start with the Deftones as they really were neato. This song was in the Matrix too.... back when that was as cool as Van-Dyke goatees and jncos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOzs1FehYOA

Sevendust: Praise I used to both love this band and be sad I would never look as cool as the lead singer. Seriously give me shapeshifting powers and I'm stealing that guys 00's look. This band was so drat good.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy17DWrjNT0

Now I know I SHOULD put in Korn as Nu-Metal BGS thread but I'm sure someone else will.... instead I'll give you something more obscure.
American Head Charge - Just So You Know In that wonderful time when guys wore masks and makeup and tried to scare yer mom. He rocks the man-burn in the first half like no other can rock a man-bun.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJx2RqwYBNE

Enjoy gentle goons as we remember the good times, the bad times, the times of baggy jeans, t-shirts and hoodies - when men could mix hip-hop and metal in angst ridden harmony and John Stewart brought us the news. Never forget!

i don't understand why rock bands today can't make some good music like Judas Priest or Iron Maiden or Sabbath did and it's all this whiny stupid bullshit about their girlfriends or over the top screaming where it is a hipster game to talk about how many of the lyrics you can make out

i say that as someone who was born in 1990

Turn off the radio and go digging, dumb dumb. There's quite a few modern bands emulating NWOBHM.

Limp Bizkit were actually even worse than you remember. Really, you probably aren't embarrassed ENOUGH about that period of your life

Here's some Korn. It was required listening back in those days. Seriously wore out my CD of issues. CDs were this odd way of listening to music on a shiny round disc before streaming. You might have a case attached to your sun-visor or a giant black book of CDs to store them in. Eventually all your Cds would get scratched because the bloody cases were built for that. You would be jammin to your tunes then your cd player would skip or beep in the middle of your rocking out with your cock out resulting in you getting mad and throwing your Jolt or Code Red soda bottle/can at your Crown on the dash. drat THE MAN!

I love that song, but that chorus was throwing me off. Apparently, it's different because it's uncensored. But he doesn't curse in the chorus???

the chorus is different on the album version and wouldn't sync up w/ the official video, that's why the uploader chose to use the chorus from the radio edit version.

here's the version from the judgement night soundtrack:

That's the one I love. I just never knew it was popular enough for a radio edit.

the entire reason nu-metal got big was because late '90s middle school boys wanted an alternative to awful boy band music. we hated N'Sync and Backstreet Boys so much that we didn't care that Korn and Limp Bizkit were somehow worse
