LLCoolJD posted:Perhaps some of the blame is on the ACC. Even if you don't want to leave the "transphobia" issue up to fans voting with their wallets, at least leave the championship game in a fairly central location. The Ravens' or Redskins' stadium, for instance. Moving it to Florida was an idiotic thing to do. At the time I am pretty sure there was a presumption of FSU playing, or at least a good chance of it.

Crotch Bat posted:It would probably be sold out. It's the 2 best traveling fanbases in the ACC, the game is incredibly close for VT fans, and we haven't been there in 5 years. True. I know they always inflate the numbers, but I think 2011 had 70k in attendance.

FSU would never be capable of selling that place out by themselves or even being 75% of a given crowd. The lowest attended ACCCG was Clemson playing GT and that's because GT has a tiny fanbase that doesn't travel and even Clemson couldn't carry the load themselves in Charlotte. Same went for those awful VT/BC games where one team is a 12 hour drive away and the other is like 18 (not that BC travels). The games were finally moved to Charlotte after the ACC realized it'd never be the perpetual Miami vs FSU scenario they dreamed of and it's done well there for the most part minus that CU/GT game because the Coastal representative has been teams like VT and UNC and the Atlantic featured FSU and CU. Again, with VT's resurgence this year and the resurgence among VT fans there's a good chance this would have sold out or come close but it is what it is at this point. Hopefully North Carolina un-fucks themselves and the game can move back.

How am I only learning that UCF has a linebacker with only one hand. Oh yeah, and he just won AAC Defender of the year. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/ucf-knights/os-ucf-shaquem-griffin-aac-defensive-player-20161130-story.html

He played nose guard or something and would just level the center of the line. He was pretty good but had trouble getting downfield so his teammates would half-carry him. It was pretty cool. But to be clear; it would be absolutely loving gutless to have the thing in NC while HB2 is still law.
