Last month saw a lower than normal turnout but the result never seemed in doubt, as AJ Styles became the second wrestler this year to win two months in a row, also continuing WWE's return to the winning circle after a dry first six months of 2016. Now it's time for Rowdy Ringsports to pick their Pro-Wrestling Champion for this month. Champions are mostly chosen on a combination of accessibility, prestige/notoriety and by overwhelming popular request. There is no hard and fast rule for what qualifies as an "eligible" Champion because that way madness lies - we'd either have 4 poll options or 45. For promotions where lengthy periods of time pass with no title defenses, promos, appearances, shows etc (such as PWG/Lucha Underground) those champions will be dropped from the poll for that period only, then return when once again relevant. NXT is still at this current time a Development Brand only, and neither of its top Champions are included on the monthly poll for that reason. The monthly "None of the Above" option is a valid potential "winner" and has "won" the poll in the past, feel free to use this as a protest vote if you so wish. Note that due to the focus on the World Tag League and the build-up to January's Wrestle Kingdom show, the IWGP Heavyweight and IC CHampions have not been involved in any major angles or had any title defenses, and so neither have been included on the poll this month. Now onto the eligible contenders for the month just gone - Feel free to make an argument for/against any particular champion you might in this thread. :human being: AJ Styles (WWE Champion) - AJ Styles spent the month involved in the Survivor Series brand vs brand main event, but his hatred for teammate Dean Ambrose saw both guys screw over their team in order to take shots at each other. Their team ended up successful regardless and AJ seemed to come across as more of a "team" player, but this set the stage for an upcoming TLC match with Ambrose to hopefully put paid to their fued once and for all. In the meantime, AJ has been haunted by his failure to get a victory over the weedy mascot James Ellsworth, including his failure to prevent Ellsworth winning a ladder match to get a Smackdown contract. He seemed to put an end to that this month as well as he delivered the Styles Clash to Ellsworth off the base of the steel steps, meaning that it appears his match with Ambrose at the upcoming PPV will be a strict one-on-one affar at last. Becky Lynch (Smackdown Woman's Champion) - Becky Lynch and her rival (and Rowdy Ringsports favorite) Alexa Bliss were also forced onto a team for Survivor Series, where both lasted to the final two on their team before Alexa was pinned and then Becky failed to survive, though she did manage to force the monster Nia Jax to tap out before going down herself. Tearing verbally into each other every week, Becky assaulted Alexa at their contract signing and attempted to put her through a table only to suffer that fate herself. This lead to the added stipulation that Becky vs Alexa will now be a Tables Match at the TLC PPV. Kevin Owens (WWE Universal Champion) - Owens got himself DQed at Survivor Series when he saved his best friend Chris Jericho by using the List of Jericho as a foreign object. This may have cost Team Raw the match, but Owens and Jericho used the so-called controversy in a hilarious fashion to fake a break-up before hugging it out. Owens then managed to beat Seth Rollins in a title defense on Raw in which Chris Jericho was banned but showed up anyway wearing a Sin Cara mask. With Rollins now focused on Jericho for revenge, Owens has moved on to Roman Reigns who has set his sights on a the Universal Title to go with his US Belt. Eddie Edwards (TNA World Heavyweight Champion) - Eddie Edwards proved his victory over Bobby Lashley was no fluke when he defended his belt against the former Champion and pinned him clean, and this in spite of Lashley's attempts to get DQed when he realized he couldn't beat Edwards. The following week, Edwards defeated Eli Drake who had cashed in his Bound for Glory title shot only to suffer a beatdown by the DCC group of James Storm, Bram and Eddie Kingston. Edwards will need to defend his belt next against Ethan Carter III, but in the meantime it seems he will be dealing with DCC in a non-title capacity. Matanza Cueto (FORMER Lucha Underground Champion) - Dario continued to thrill in the use of his brother - THE MONSTER, MATANZA CUETO - as he used him to defeat hapless wrestlers "gifted" a title shot, such as Cortez Castro. But Dario's belief in the invincibility of his brother blew up in his face when he entered Matanza into Aztec Warfare III at Number 1.... and Matanza got pinned! Assaulted by multiple wrestlers but tossing them aside, Matanza finally reached the end of his rope and was pinned by Rey Mysterio. Flying into a rage, the now former Champion went crazy and even shoved down his brother Dario as he stormed out. That mean somebody new would be Champion by the end of the match, and that person was.... Sexy Star (FORMER Lucha Underground Champion) - Some claim the role was originally meant for Ivelisse but a last minute injury forced reshooting out of order to make up a storyline for Sexy to get the spot instead. Regardless of whether it was planned, whether Sexy was the best person for the spot or not, when Sexy pinned Mil Muertes to be the sole survivor and become the first female Lucha Underground Champion, a lot of people were thrilled. There was a lot of talk on whether she deserved it, but also a lot of people delighted to see a woman get the top title and be treated like an equal. Of course, as Sexy herself said in the next episode of Lucha Underground, it was important she prove this wasn't a fluke and she DESERVED to be Champion.... Johnny Mundo (Lucha Underground Champion): http://i.imgur.com/qpZ63mR.gifv Adam Cole (ROH World Champion) - Cole reminded why he is WORLD Champion this month, alternating between Japan and England representing ROH as Champion. He started off in a multi-man tag at Power Struggle with his Bullet Club brethren and successfully defeating Chaos. At the end of the month in England at ROH's Reach for the Sky events, he defended his title against Chris Sabin and former Champion Jay Lethal. Charlotte (FORMER WWE Women's Champion) - People make a big deal out of how historic it all is, but once again Charlotte won the title at a PPV only to lose it on a Raw. In a match against Sasha Banks, the two were double counted out but then rematched later that night in a No-DQ Falls Count Anywhere main event where Banks submitted Charlotte in her own hometown. Sasha Banks (WWE Women's Champion) - Regaining the belt for the third time, Sasha defeated her top rival in Charlotte's own hometown after losing the belt in Boston. Charlotte's own father, the legendary Ric Flair, came to the ring to raise her hand after the match. Maybe Sasha will lose it on the next PPV yet again, but for now she is once again the Champion. gently caress you 2016, gently caress. YOU. (None of the Abone) - If you're sick and tired of 2016 and the lovely, lovely, lovely year it has been (ESPECIALLY November) and these Champions aren't making things any easier for you, feel free to vote None of the Above! Sasha Banks has been the best champ this month and it's not a situation like Bayley where I'd rather vote for the NXT champs so despite the questionable WWE booking of the women's title I still gotta vote for her

I only watch WWE, so the four possibilities for me are Charlotte, Kevin Owens, Sasha Banks, and AJ Styles. I'm not a fan of Charlotte and Sasha hotshotting the title back and forth, so they don't get my vote. Kevin Owens is an okay champ, but largely due to Jericho always being at his side, so he doesn't get my vote. My vote goes for AJ Styles. He's been entertaining since back when he first won the World Championship and got drafted to Smackdown. Hopefully he'll successfully defend his title from Ellsworth at TLC.

I'm tempted to throw a vote Becky's way, but AJ's been too good and entertaining this month to really justify voting for anyone else.

So far he's my pick for Champ of the Year.

I mean, that must be the issue, because it's headlined a PPV this year, and regularly main events Raw, so clearly it's not card position... Seriously, imagine pulling that poo poo for any other sport or entertainment field? "Why's Meryl Streep in this 'greatest film actor' poll?"
