It's the quantity of cycles of a given cell that alters SSD life, not the size of the files. Change a file and you change the partition entry and clusters pointed to it. Doing a byte-wise comparison of oldFile->newFile is going to nail throughput without extending the life of the drive by much. He'll be replacing the SSD before release anyway. Also, not a good idea to layer a filesystem over a database.
