Since I started a CICO based diet. Last post 8 days ago:

77.7kg total weight
30.69kg muscle (39.5%)
16.55kg fat (21.3%)
6.22kg visceral fat (8%)

Today's stats:

76.1kg total weight (-1.6kg) [BMI 25.1]
30.28kg muscle (39.8%) (-0.41kg)
15.44kg fat (20.3%) (-1.11kg)
5.3kg visceral fat (7%) (-0.92kg)

Still goal:
71kg total weight
30.69kg muscle (43.2%)
9.85kg fat (13.8%)
6.22kg visceral fat (8.7%)

Likeliness to achieve overall goals getting to that weight: unlikely. Lost more visceral fat than expected already. Lost some muscle. Lost some fat as well. All in all the goal is to get down to 10kg fat for me mostly now. In 8 days that's significant progress IMO. Visceral fat is also very approximate since my scale only gives me full percentages unlike the other measurements.

Edit: this is weight tax :colbert:

How are you getting that weight analysis? Have you done a BCA scan?

Bad example. If Sid Meier decides Pirates! needs revisiting, Firaxis can fund it with the profits off Civ6, or Civ5, or an XCon game. Or he could get funding from any publisher or bank he wants to work with based on the history of his company.

But his MO, going back to civ2 even, is to give projects like that to a protégé. Hence you have people like Jake Solomon and Soren Johnson, and Brian Reynolds giving new insight into existing games, while benefitting from Sid's experience.

At any rate, listen to Designer Notes, a podcast about why we make games. https://www.idlethumbs.net/designernotes

Start with the newer episodes and work your way back though, Soren is a great developer, good interviewer, but bad at microphones, so early episodes are technically pretty rough.

Serious question: how would you determine non arbitrary values for the performance of fantasy space ships trying to recreate the feeling of Star Wars / WW2 dog fighters?

Step 1: decide if you want to model real world physics or fantasy physics

Now that we've eliminated everyone associated with Star Citizen, it's mainly a case of deciding how you want combat to "feel", grouping your fighters into categories of some kind, and playtesting playtesting playtesting.

What I want(ed)? I don't really know... It's odd.

It's easier for me to explain when I realized I didn't want to play E:D anymore. It was when I realized that nothing I did in the game had any impact on anything whatsoever. It became a grind for money and rank (exploration/trading/combat).

The "storylines" in the game moved on, whether I participated or not. Engineers was an ok idea, but was just more grind, same goes for factions.

Looking back, I got caught up in the buzz - like so many SC backers today. In a lot ways I understand them, but IMHO sunk cost fallacy will never make SC playable.

I don't regret spending the money, but I wouldn't do it again. It was an awesome journey, and I don't think the game is a bad game - it's just not for me.

Yeah it's a lot of money, but to me it's all about prioritizing. I'm by no means a rich guy, I have a crappy middle income job, but I simply prioritize. Some people spend $2800 to buy a car, some people buy a horse, some spend it on tickle porn and coke, some spend it on avatars on a crappy comedy forum - I spent it on E:D.

poo poo dude, you don't need to justify how you spend your money. I spent $110 on part of an old man's record collection a few days ago. (I got an early 90s Technics component stereo system and a pair of koss tower speakers for under $50 though so it's all good) Incidentally auctions can make you do stupid things with money.

Hey MOMA, you should tell Sandy to auction off the right to participate in the next sale. Highest bidders get in, everyone else kicks sand. See how much they really support her. I mean Chris.
