This was linked many pages back: http://www.pcinvasion.com/star-citizen-star-marine-impressions "Star Marine is simply a shooter, two teams of Marines and Outlaws attempt to run around a map to take control points or go head to head in deathmatch. Only it’s not really running around, it’s more like ice skating or juddering around the two levels." "I also particularly enjoyed watching my weapon move about on the ground like it had a life of its own when I died." Well done Chris. Landing successful.

shrach posted:I decided to have my own go at an estimate of the CIG cash flow. I've tried to take an optimistic view of CIG and so I think this paints a best case scenario for them. This mainly includes the assumption that running offices in LA, Austin, and Frankfurt is significantly more efficient than a single large office in Manchester. I've based this on a number of factors and tried to ignore the "Restoration Hardware factor". In my opinion, even if you remove the estimated motion capture expenses from Foundry 42 there is still a lot of room for possible pork in their budget. If you make the assumption that Foundry 42 / Manchester is an efficiently run company then you sort of have to add another $15m+ to the USA budget for the five years. This is interesting. If I'm reading this right then, assuming funding/expenses continue at the current levels, CIG could potter along for 8 or 9 years (if the other studios are more efficient) or around 3 years (if the other studios have similar costs to F42). Obviously it could be longer if they cut costs as the money starts to run out or if anyone is foolish enough to lend them more. If funding stopped tomorrow then they'd be out of cash in about 7 or 8 months (if the other studios are efficient) or 3 months (if not). In other words, providing they can keep milking the whales and are willing to quietly run down some studios then CIG could linger for years. They really need to keep the whale money coming though.

CitizenCon scheduled for 27 October this year in Germany: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15961-CitizenCon-Tickets-Announcement A mere €50 to be there in person when the Crobbler spits all over a cake. Edit: Beaten since the release of the post was delayed by while I answered the call to refactor the serialised variables. Dial A For Awesome fucked around with this message at 22:50 on Jun 16, 2017 |

Space Crabs posted:A good and interesting post. I can see why the PU is an over-ambitious and doomed exercise but this post prompts the thought "why are CIG having such trouble in producing separate modules that you load into (like Arena Commander or some planetary zone hidden behind a loading screen) or a standalone single player FPS (SQ42)?" These should be well-trodden exercises which dozens of games and mods have previously done in some form or another. The alarming thing for CIG's defenders is that even these seem well beyond its technical and management capabilities.

Golli posted:Granted, they still haven't explained how insurance will work yet, ... LTI is a neat example of CIG's failure to actually plan and design game mechanics. For example if I have LTI on a spaceship and it gets stolen by PGabz... - Can I claim a new version of that ship using LTI (if you can only claim a new ship when the old one is destroyed then that significantly limits LTI's value)? - What happens if I subsequently steal my ship back from PGabz? Does this mean I now have two ships? Or does the LTI-version of the ship disappear (and if so what happens to all the stuff/people in it)? - What is to stop me agreeing to let PGabz steal my ship (maybe in return for him paying me ![]() I do wonder if Croberts has never played an MMO and thus has no idea of the lengths to which some players will go to try and manipulate the system in order to get gear for free.

G0RF posted:Good stuff One minor suggestion while you're fixing the typo in the first paragraph. You could change the final sentence of the Gamescon 17 entry to remove the word "ever". One of the neat things about this graphic is the measured, factual tone. That sentence strayed a little into hyperbole.

Should I invest in Star Citizen or Bitcoin? Both of these projects allow for the creation of a digital currency in a variety of ways. If you would like to invest in Star Citizen or Bitcoin, you can check the respective projects at https://www.bittrex.co/market/markets/cryptocurrency/ and you can use our free software (http://www.fuzzyunicorn.com) to buy any asset associated with either of these projects. Why is this not going away? For the full answer to this question, you'll want to read our previous post on the topic: https://medium.com/@jamesdavidson/are-you-in-crowdfunding-for-your-first-game-of-the-century-9fb39bbf7a55 What happens to you if/how are you compensated? Since this has to do with crowdfunding, the more people that invest, the more tokens you'll get. Why should I worry about a large number of people investing against my investment?
