But imagine if Gary Parpman was promised a royalty based on his performance , imagine that he took a slight pay cut for this . Imagine he signed a specific deal for the use of his likeness.
Now imagine that somehow CIG were deemed to have used his image inappropriately. Say like releasing pre-production mocap set ups and unauthored textures of his face etc . Now let’s pretend that CIG have slipped ever so slightly behind with sq42 and those royalties seem less and less likely, even so far as Mr Parpmans original contract clearly specified a date that has now sailed past . Let’s say that Mr Parpman has called his agent ....

Now lets check if Mr Parpmans agent is the same one he had when filming Sq42

Both cr and lord British think they can have games that spend an eternity in public alpha and a massive hype based big budget commercial launch. Neither stopping to think why nobody else in the industry is doing it.

But first as many of you know, the team is very focused on completing our three zero update for the persistent universe. Err so three zero is a giant leap forward from what is currently available in the game and thanks to the dev teams hard work the majority of three zeros new features are almost complete and we have shifted into the final phase of the production process that focuses on feature and content integration, optimisation and bug fixing.
Now we are also expecting many new players or people who have been busy playing something else to come back in and log in and play three zero. So we wanted to make sure the user experience is really good so we have decided to spend more time polishing and optimising than we have in recent releases. Err in addition we are also aiming to introduce our new delta patcher so you will only need to download just the files that have been changed for each subsequent patch, which means no more 30 gigabyte downloads. Err but of course this will require some fine tuning err and a lot of testing to make sure it works as intended.
Now we know that three zero is a big release and you are all eger to play and err um we are all excited for you to play to and we can't wait to get it done err but we want to make sure it's ready so err if you have read the list of caveats we gave when we first started sharing our internal unpadded schedules, our very first point was quality will always trump schdule and the second and third points about task estimates you know being unpredictable due to the nature of development is something that hasn't been done before and the difficulty of estimating bug fixing and polish time are also important to remember as we go forward err with our schdules on err finishing three zero.
So that's why we have seen the constant changes to production schedule over the past few weeks as new issues or advancements cross our paths we have worked hard to communicate those to you no matter how good or bad the news may be err by its very nature game development can be an exhilarating and frustrating and unpredictable process arr so if our three zero schedule wasn't that you wouldn't be getting the true development experience.

Oh my god, The Agent's posts were just amazing.

It makes so much sense too, why CIG's demos for Gamescon and Citizencon 2016 were so uncharacteristically polished and smooth. They literally had nothing other than their lovely broken 2.x build and just hired Behaviour Interactive to mock up a 'game' which showed their plans.

If and when CIG financially implode, it'll be an absolutely spectacular clusterfuck, and I can imagine tons of publications will be picking through the remains afterwards trying to figure out what went wrong, and the only answer that will come up will be a big neon red flashing sign saying "CHRIS ROBERTS" over and over.

That said, Behaviour Interactive looks like they did a pretty sweet job with the 3.0 demos, maybe they should start a kickstarter for a space trading game? :v:

pretty funny that under those circumstances cr said 3.0 will be out by the end of 2016 and then presented a roadmap for a bunch of future patches.

In the video a space bike jitters wildly and flickers into view. Over 25% of the 1 minute long video is glitches. The rest looks remarkable in how dull it is.
This is it, this is Star Citizen.

It's the most most money Chris Roberts has ever had to work with, he has had absolute creative control and minimal time pressure. Nah, it's some form of dynamic instancing where they can partition a region of space and assign it to a new server. How it is going to work is completely up in the air because like the CIG employee said, they haven't even started on it yet and are working off Croberts imagination.

you know the way the system is gonna work is that we only spin we only hand you off to another server urm if there is too many people urm in this area of space in the server. So like you know at the very beginning if there is only two people in the star system urm you know and say you can have 50 people in err maximum in any one server right these I'm give an example numbers that's not necessarily what the final numbers will be. Erm those two people will be on the same server and that will persis that will continue err if there was 10 there would still be those same 10 people on the same server. Now once we get over the server maximum say 50 and we move to 60 that point we can't fit 60 people in a in one server so we would basically say ok, lets look at the locations and say ok well, here is an area that is fairly dense say it's a planet, say it's Earth. So err in earth that will be its own sort of separate server zone and err people near around Earth will be talking to the server that's controlling that. And err people on the other side of the solar system say around Pluto or flying around generally out in space will be talking to another server and so you will sort of sort of split out players to additional servers as more people come into the solar system. Err and then when we have a few servers running that's when you sort of have to deal with the instancing of like ok we want to keep people together if they are part of the same sort of organisation or party or they are friendly or they have you know known to each other as a person of interest erm so in most cases unless there is you know you are getting into like huge battles and loads amounts of people you could send someone ahead to like scout an asteroid field and come back and say it's fine or you know what there is a couple of pirates out here and the rest of your fleet would come to where you were you would still all be in the same server and erm you know you would have an encounter and even if there was you were on separate servers because there were too many people on the solar system and the asteroid field was handled by a different server then say where the rest of your fleet is urm we always try to keep slots open on servers for sort of friends to join basically cough and so the message would go out from your scout saying "Hey join me" and there will be a certain number of slots available for the fleet and the ones that would be available would be filled and if erm cough there was too many people then we would just have to make a decision of, do we keep the fleet together and put it in another instance or do we spit it up. Erm and we haven't really decided how that would work yet. Erm on that you know you can have an argument for both ways so we may make it user definable or we may try it one way and see how it plays. Erm cough and so there you go.
