ITYOL 2017 I still have no idea what the difference between CIG and RSI is. When I'm talking poo poo to backers which of those entities should I indicate has no loving clue what they're doing besides milking whales for more money?

I also noticed on the Star Citizen Facebook that there was a photo album called Sprout Social which it turns out is some social media delivery platform that our plucky multi-millionaires are using to spread the word.

Imgur is blocked at work so I avoid reading this thread until I get home so that I don't miss out on any photoshops or screencaps of citizens in the wild.

This has led me to start trolling the SC Facebook page since I can actually access it. There are a few other goons (I assume - if not they're reading this thread and should join us) out in the trenches fighting the good fight and I wanted you to know I recognize your hard work and dedication.

After gamescon though, lol everypost their shifty marketers make has turned into a battlefield.

"So there I was hauling 5000 sexbots from <vaguely racist sounding planet name> to <planet name that could also be that of an accounting professor>. I was about four (real time) hours into the mission when I was jacked by pirates. They made me unload all of my cargo (one at a time), blew up my ship, and then took me hostage. I spent the next four weeks (real time) confined to an in-game cell before I was able to trade my LTI ship respawn for my freedom." That is a thing that sounds fun to someone who presumably has a real life job and income that was used to purchase access to Time Sink the game

The thing about Star Citizen is that at this point is that it has gone on for so long and generated so much insanity that people think you are lying or exaggerating when you try to explain it. Like any one story from this would be hard to believe. Five+ years worth is just too much.

*Exceed original goal by a hundred plus million dollars.. still do not have content from original demo in game.
*CEO and HR/Marketing director attempt to hide marriage
*HR/Marketing director sings Nazi song to Germans
*CEO tells HR/Marketing director to just fly first class. HR/Marketing director tells this to media.
*Plucky little startup has like 14 offices/divisions/subsidiaries spread across the globe.
*In order to prove how honest and straightforward they were as a company, they promised backers that they would release financials in full if they didnt ship by a certain point. When that point came they just deleted all references to that and wrote a new *ironclad* TOS.
*Have missed every single date and milestone they have set for themselves.
*Accidentally* release dev build to public since it was on an open server
*The backers....

he was already fixed, and the place we got him from lets us come back and get him checked for free for a few months afterwards, just in case we're worried about him or he's got health issues. the RSPCA shelters also give you a short grace period, if the catte is really not settling in or having massive issues with other pets / people.

Hint: There is no "state of the game." A regular CryEngine game with missing textures has a bubble saying "Replace Me" where the texture would be. Star Citizen has "Replace Me" everywhere except where the textures are.

I love that goons broke them so much that they have to meticulously scan each post to make sure they don't have any incriminating evidence such as the computers clock or the windows in the building.

I have literally read this thread all over the world at this point. I have read every single page while wandering through North America, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. I've read in at least 20 different airports, I've read while waiting for the moon to show up so I can go eat Iftar, I've read on a bullet train crossing Japan, and even read it in the shade of the Roman Coliseum while I waited for my tour to start. All of those places and experiences so I added up all of the money I've spent on travel, food, hotels, and souvenirs* over the last few years and it is still less than their dumbass megapack.

* If I count up money spent on alcohol it takes over 27k but the point still stands

I did read your posts and they often reminded me that I was glad to be enjoying a trip to a foreign land and not drowning in the freezing North Atlantic. That being said, you should never be afraid to travel to faraway places as long as you do your research and take the proper precautions. Depending on where you go it might be to bring Tums or you might have to make a knife out of your Discover card and tape it to your belly. Ultimately the most important thing is to travel with the right people. I have been to a lot of garbage places but made lifetime memories with the folks I was with.

Since it's the annual Steam summer sale, we can again be reminded how stupid the concept of Chris Roberts "saving" pc gaming actually is. I just flew through 36 games in my discover queues. I saw games for train simulations, high speed boat racing, survival games, racing games, RPGs, and even one about a Monster Prom. There has literally never been a better time to be a PC gamer. No matter what your interest is, there are games being developed for you. I'm not saying they're all good games, but at this point you can almost pick any two or three words and search on steam and find a related game. That's not even getting into the stuff available on patreon or directly from the devs (big or small).

The thing is, this is an easy cult to leave. You just … stop.

You quietly stop posting, you unsubscribe from the forums or subreddit and you get on with your life and pretend like it never happened and kind of lie about how much you invested in the first place. You tell yourself it was a good dream worth supporting and it’s too bad (Chris/Derek/GOONS) hosed it up, but that’s how things go and you were always a little skeptical about the whole thing, so you aren’t surprised things turned out this way. You were never really that fanatic a backer but it was fun to troll the Goons but you’ve got more interesting things to do now. And then you stop talking or thinking about it at all.

Unlike a real cult, no one comes to get you, there is no intervention or isolation. There is no load breakup, no dramatic defection. You simply fade away. (It’s the people loudly claiming they are leaving that haven’t really left.)

People are surprisingly resilient and really good at changing their minds and really, really bad at noticing they have or of remembering what it was like when they believed something different than they do now.

And the best part is that if somehow, against all odds, they released a game that is fun and worth playing, you could just buy it for a normal game price and no one would know or care that isn’t Derek or someone that posts about Derek’s junk.

How are y’all sleeping on this part? I’m going to be a grizzled crime scene detective who finds body parts and then puts together clues which will lead me to uncover a wider story .

I will stand up from a body part, straighten all four of my collars then turn to my sexy female companion and proclaim “This person was teabagged....”. I will then pause for dramatic effect (or because my FPS was at 5 again) before finishing with “to death.”

TBH I just hope the news ships don’t find out how good I am at uncovering a wider story and start following me around.
