I was about to laugh at the propeller intake rings but actually they kind of make sense. Really helps with hydrodynamics in all that cryengine space-water

Lol at all the people in that thread saying that CIG's explanation of the engine switch makes any sort of sense. They managed to merge 2 different "highly customized" >3-year-divergent codebases in a day or 2? ![]() I've had plenty of merge nightmares after only a couple weeks of divergence. Their explanation can only make sense to people who aren't familiar with using version control in a collaborative team environment. Either they're lying about how much they customized cryengine (or they're lying that they even merged any of their code into LY), or they're lying about how long it took. There simply isn't any other possibility. I'm betting on the former.

Is it possible to see ingame evidence that 64bit positioning and physics grids even exist? Like, if it turns out that CIG actually switched to LY by deleting starengine, opening their shared CIFS drive, unzipping the LY archive that Amazon support had to email to them into X:/src/Users/CR/Desktop/My Games/starcitizen (copy) (6) (29)/engine.orig.bak (2) (copy) (4)/MyFirstExampleEngine/src/starengine/(I assume that's what their repo structure looks like by now) then slapping a starengine splash screen on it... Would anyone be able to actually tell? Maybe it actually did take a couple devs only a day or 2 to finish the switch

It's all just fine everyone, after 5 years of development we have invented non-XML network serialization (patent pending). We just need to reduce the latency by a couple orders of magnitude and figure out how we'll ever be able to scale it to more than 20 entities, and we'll be ready to start on the rest of 3.0. This is perfectly normal and good. Remember, this is stuff that nobody has done before so it's expected that our estimate for Serialized Variable 2.0 would be off by a year! Wait what's protobuf?

Lol at anyone thinking that a player limit on an online game ever has anything to do with latency or the speed of light Gee isn't it funny that nobody seems to be able to make a shooter game with more than about 100 people in the same region at once? I wonder why that could be Hey what's O(n^2) mean anyway?

Two different animals completely. "Decarbing"? lol what Stop crobbertsing this up You cook it for the same reason that cooked food has more macronutrients than raw food: to break down the plant fibre (cellulose and lignin) which are indigestible and prevent absorption of most of the cannabinoids. THC is fat soluble, you can digest it just fine without chemical modification. Soaking it in alcohol or grinding it to a fine powder also works. Most of the reason to make brownies or cookies with it is to ensure that it digests slowly over a few hours.

It's pretty exciting that CR is coding 10+hr / day on the physics "refactor" He absolved himself of the terrible burden of being a rockstar coder CEO who doesn't code and instead micromanages every aspect of this project, including estimating and scheduling devs' work months in advance, doing so assuming he'd be the one doing the work and therefore won't take long at all, and throwing his teams under the bus when they literally miss every target that they had no control over, micromanaging every little thing, and obsessing about NPCs wearing multiple jackets and snoopy caps and mocapping a loving bartender in a static scene just mixing drinks (lmao actual mocapped ocean waves are next probably, that fake poster was prophetic) Now that he's back coding, they will hit every one of their targets and this game will be so much better than its peers, which include such titles as Elite Dangerous (2014, a 5 year old game now lmao) Assuming he's actually coding (lol), I'd pay good money to be able to see a feed of his Google searches
