Start with local indy talent? Most of them usually manage bookings themselves so it'd be a bit easier to reach out (they usually have their email address on their twitter/facebook) and start building a portfolio so that when you do start going to the bigger named guys, you can show them you're familiar with interviewing guys in the business.
