I love those films. I also enjoy Muriel's Wedding and The Castle. But I wouldn't describe local film the way that Lindelof does. It just seems like a really inaccurate way to describe the industry.

Maybe if he was just talking about tourism ads, I'd believe him, but he's not.

Nah. Prometheus and Tomorrowland and World War Z has Lindelof written all over them and they stink. Leftovers has to be a fluke.

I'm Australian, and I work in film, so I hope that counts for something.

Like, honestly, describing Australian film as "primal, ancient and spiritual" is a bit doofy and patronising. But hopefully the show won't be?

If Ernie Dingo turns up as a wise Aboriginal man, or one of the Garveys goes on walkabout, I'll call shenanigans though.

Yeah, the only Australian film which comes to mind is Picnic at Hanging Rock. It'll be a good season if they can get a similar tone as that movie.

The soundtrack to this show is so good.

I am also in love with the soundtrack (in addition to the show). Max Richter also did the soundtrack for Miss Sloane; I only listened once a few weeks ago and while I do remember thinking it had what I would consider a signature of what I grew to like in the Leftovers soundtrack, I can't say it hooked me as well.

His music is very hit or (sort of) miss for me, but if you like him you should check out the soundtrack for Waltz With Bashir, it's great.

I was just about to post I bet David Gulpilil will be in this season and then I watched the trailer and I'm pretty sure that's him in it.

so i just watched both seasons of this show recently. watched all of season 1 in one day because i thought it was amazing and got a bit burned out on season 2 as it only seemed so-so.

and then we went to the hotel with kevin and i loved it again. i'm super excited for the 3rd season. also super excited for all the lost parallels because i loving love lost and am glad this is like lost with much better pacing/plotting.

i kinda hope we find out if (s2 spoilers) tommy is faking or not though. then again...if it works who's to say it really isn't real? maybe tommy is just a parallel for the placebo effect

i mostly wanna know (s1 spoilers) what the hell kevin wished for when he was with holy wayne. to have a family again?

or was wayne just a huge fraud like he feared? i dunno. i really liked holy wayne and i was a bit sad he doesn't seem to play much into the plot anymore.

but then again, i should probably prep myself for never getting this stuff answered.

also matt is the best character and he makes me think of john locke constantly which makes me extremely worried for him this season :ohdear:

I'm still baffled that season 2 followed up the mediocre season 1 by instead being one the best things of the year right alongside Fargo.

The improvement of Leftovers S2 over S1 was mirrored by the dropover of Fargo S2 from S1.

Success!

I started watching the show on a recommendation from my BF and went into it blind and I was blown away. Super pumped for the new season even if it is a bit of a wait. Kind of a shame it's only eight episodes, but it'll probably keep the storytelling tight.

I'm not really one to rewatch episodes right away, but the end of season 2 got me to. That music gets me every time it's used and using it for Kevin and John walking home after everything just felt really poignant.

I'm gonna rewatch both seasons before this one comes out, because boy howdy I am terrible at remembering character names. I had to go on Wikipedia to look up Kevin and John's names, and they're two of the main characters.

You should go back and rewatch it before season 3. This is what I thought too, but going back I actually liked season 1 way more
