I liked high school, I had lots of friends and girlfriends, classes were easy but our school didn't really cater to smart kids so I was bored a lot in class. was heavily invested in the leftist/ punk scene, went to shows every weekend and played in my own band. usually hung out with older people and my parents didn't mind me going to things like the warped tour and other festivals from when I was like 14 so that was cool. had bright red coloured hair one winter and became vegetarian at age 16 (which I still am). did lots of skateboarding too. there was the usual teenage angst and I remember writing the lyrics to the offspring's 'all I want' on my door in an act of rebellion, but my mom talked to me about it and it was cool. read a lot of very serious literature because I wanted to be a writer and I idolized writers and artists. also played a lot of Nintendo.
I couldn't wait to go to university though and be independent from my parents, so moved out when I was 18 in 2001 (this is pretty normal in Holland where all this took place) to study English and university was even better! There is a blink 182 song called carousel which has the lyric 'school life is a woken dream' and I agreed with it.
