I've never been a Star Wars fan. I haven't even really watched the original trilogy, just bits and pieces here and there. But as a ladyperson, I've always liked Carrie Fisher as another ladyperson. Her mom basically pushed her into showbusiness, she ends up being a nerd sex symbol while being mired in cocaine and alcohol while being bipolar and still managed to mostly beat her demons and end up smart and accomplished. She was a strong lady even though she was completely hosed up. And you know what? I've got a special place in my heart for hosed up strong ladies.

I saw Carrie Fisher make the same outrageously bold off-the-cuff joke in multiple interview segments when Force Awakens came out and it occurred to me that she would probably be an awesome lady for the exact length of the average fan interaction or brief conversation, but super grating and tiring for any longer than that.
