The heater core isnt that hard to replace. Nor is it difficult in a Holden Torana.

Fiat Pandas. It's in a clip-together plastic housing atop the engine bay - were it not for the clamps on the hoses you'd barely need tools.

My J10, it is right there under the hood. Same with a lot of older F series trucks, their evap cores are right there.

I bet I could do a 97-01 XJ or firstgen forester one in 3-4 hours, they aren't bad even though people bitch a lot about it. (You have to rip out everything between the seats and firewall.)

OK so the service records say that first the coolant neck broke and it dumped out its coolant, then presumably that's why it overheated and blew the head gasket.

But both have been fixed and now Mom says it still over heats? Aaaand the clutch is broke? And your folks have already paid for a head gasket replacement plus machine shop work, they must be thousands into this car by now.

Maybe a different local car would be a better idea

Sounds like a fucky pressure plate or pneumatic-mode hydraulics to me. My 01 forester came to me like that, was a ton of air in the lines. It felt like a lightswitch with a pedal on it.

I'm fairly sure the transmission that succeeded the 020 was just the 020 but adapted for a hydraulic clutch pedal, so almost certainly.
