FINALLY

That's 20 full time rides, plus one part time seat open (#20 for ECR) and one full time seat open (#19 for Dale Coyne)

22 full timers and 2 part timers lookin to add more races. 10 Chevy, 12 Honda. 2 new full time owners, 2 new part time owners. 29 cars confirmed for Indy so far. Next years schedule has been out for 2+ months. And its not even xmas yet.

Good stuff.

It's a relief to see Carlin come in as a standalone team adding entries to the grid.

Alot of 'new team interested in joining Indycar' stories seem to end up as mergers into existing teams that do nothing for the car count.

I think Indycar realized that their grid was too dependent on superteams. Penske and Andretti-Herta still are 1/3rd of the grid more or less but it's better than Ganassi-Andretti-Penske bening 50%.

To be honest, the Ganassi 83 and 8 cars never really seemed to deliver.

Not for this season, but there are prospects that these could eventually become full-blown solo operations after enough experience is gathered up. I don't think these latch-on teams have aspirations of just being latch-on teams.

After winning the championship in CART Flag to Flag you unlock a secret high FPS mode. In addition, you get a Bonus car and driver, which is none other than Shigeaki Hattori’s Bettenhausen Epson Car. Somebody at Sega had a wicked sense of humour.

IndyCar heard Andretti's whining, and teams that weren't chosen for manufacturer testing will get an extra test day. Its actually a better deal than it sounds, because the teams that did the manufacturer testing werent allowed to keep their data.

Bumping would be cool, but I don't see it happening since it's a disincentive for the manufacturers to have more than 33 entries.

Yeah, once you have 33 confirmed, the 34th engine contract and the sponsorship needed to pay for it both become exponentially harder to obtain. It's good that there are so many confirmed and viable-but-unconfirmed entries so far, but we're not yet back to where the conditions exist for 34 or more serious entries.

I'd also argue that Buddy Lazier, as much as I like him and appreciate the effort, is not much of a serious entry.

I suppose I've always associated it with Jim Nabors, rather than a pre race tradition that IMS would hold onto in his absence, and that after he was gone it would go by the wayside. A gushing article about his replacement doesn't do it for me.

I haven't been able to hear Back Home Again in a few years since it's hard to hear from the inside of T3, but this new guy is pretty good at singing it (despite singing for the Blackhawks). The song is good and is tradition. I've literally met people who have grandstand seats they only sit in during the pre-race then walk around the track during the race.

The pomp and circumstance before the race is just as good as the race itself :colbert:
