On top of all of the above, lots of cosplayers take photos into consideration when making things. Some fabric types, paints, materials, and colors look better in photos than they do in real life. Given how we consume the art, it's often a prudent choice.

Yep! And very specifically, I'm pretty sure she bought that uniform because she really really didn't want to make it. She seems to enjoy making the custom stuff more.

I know how you feel - I have many similar thoughts while choosing materials for my cosplays. But at a certain level, cosplay is about having fun.

They have the costumes, they have fun taking photos and posing in the costumes, and cool. I'll then post the pictures in here.

Yeah, expensive materials can sometimes be hard to work with. It's pretty important to research the materials and methods you'll use before you do things.
