Kooler than Jesus

Arson Daily posted:

Hey so my nephew decided that the best course of action for his adult life after high school was to enlist in the marines! Possibly infantry too but I'm not 100% on that. I do know that he's supposed to go through boot camp at 29 palms which doesn't seem like a picnic at all. I'd like to get him something as a graduation present to help him through boot camp. Besides a COVID-19 infection what would be the best thing to get him?

It was 2006 I think. When I was recruiting, all the recruits started getting issued them because a bunch of people were coming home in boxes and no one had blues to get buried in.

The marines sure know how to solve problems.

More navy in the marines thread :

undesignated sailors in the submarine fleet are the guys that do that same deck work but at sea they are the guys who actually drive the submarine around as helmsmen/planesmen, along with the SK's, YM, and
forward MM's who haven't qualified aux yet.

Also at most on a sub you will have between 0 and 2 undes and when there is zero people from other weapons department divisions get voluntold to do deck.
