I was legit disappointed when they removed this music from the ready screen on WOTC.

Wait what, you haven't played WOTC yet? Everything else about it is phenomenal; that music change was my one main gripe.

Turns out the sectopods had preset kill counters and shut down when they hit their limit, so I sent wave after wave of my own men at them. Bradford, show them the medal I won.

For vanilla XCOM 2, it varies. I've had some standout moments with specialists, but it depends on your play style and the mission type. Any longer missions like the black site or the final, I like having a medic. Most of the time though, I find that the best way of keeping my guys healed is by blowing up the enemies first. I tend to roll very grenadier heavy. Hybrid specialists are an option as well, and having an enemy bot can have hilarious outcomes. It's pretty unreliable though, unless you get a bunch of those +20 hacking bonuses on the same guy early on.

They're much better in the expansion when you don't have to choose skill trees and can take both.

Nah they're two separate missions. And yeah you'll want good tech for both. The Shen mission is long as hell.

For true hilarious game breaking, roll into the final notice with a full squad of psykers.

Also blade master is amazing in the expansion. Especially when a flare for enemy reinforcements pops and you set a couple rangers standing there. It's like "I'm going to stand here and spin my sword around in a circle and if you air drop on me, it's your fault!!!"

I somehow sunk 68 hours into Stellaris over the holidays and have really enjoyed it, despite the last game of this time that I played being Master of Orion. Yeah that's right, the original one.

Started my first XCOM 2 WOTC iron man game. I mean to say, my fifth, since my first four ended with disaster VERY early on and me saying "Oh, right, I can't play that way anymore since I can't save scum." This one, I made it to magnetic weapons before the mass decline started. Two causes: 1. When I was hitting 2 a bunch for my squad to overwatch, I forgot that the Templars have 2 set as fire pistol. On a lost mission. And uh, yeah. 2. Forgot that buying predator armor required 6 advent trooper corpses and sold too many. So yeah, looks like I'm restarting again.

The most fun I had on Fallout Tactics was a gimmick one character only run. Didn't have to worry about ammo, didn't have to worry about squad mates getting tagged by missed enemy burst fire, leveled up at a faster than normal rate. Of course I had to save scum a bit, because turning the wrong corner could have bad consequences.

Slavic Crime Yacht posted:Welp. Just had a moment in my favour. loving right there. I've been playing WOTC with iron man enabled. I'm currently on my seventh run, the others crashed and burned hard. Currently at the point where I have tier 3 armor but only tier 2 weapons, and sectopods are starting to show up. I can't put damage out fast enough to kill them before they wipe half a squad, so my tactic lately has been using my reaper, sneaking around and running away whenever I can. Iron man is loving ROUGH in terms of showing you all the sloppy moves you make when you take save scumming for granted.

Slavic Crime Yacht posted:Reapers are honestly almost game breaking in how they give you so many options. Unless you're really trying they'll never get seen, and once they get up a few levels and can start wreaking havoc with Claymores... I cleared most of the black site mission with my reaper just running around the place, waiting for patrols to move near explosives, and nuking them with remote start. Never played like this in the base game, but given how brutally iron man can cascade disaster on you for one minor mistake, I don't feel bad at all.

I've had that from several FPS games too. I have to crank the FOV up to 90, otherwise I can only play for maybe 45 minutes at a time.

Just made the most comical mech in Battletech. I used to dismiss Banshees as being awful, on account of their having almost no weapon space if you up their armor to a good amount. Then in a fit of madness, I took one, put the armor near max, added three small lasers, a hit resist gyro and cockpit mod, two punch mods and jump jets. It's basically the Leeroy Jenkins of mechs. It's already one shot kill punched several mechs and it is glorious.

I can't even play most first person shooters anymore without getting motion sick. Especially when I can't widen the FOV setting. Now I stick to managerial tactical games like Battletech and XCOM instead. It's like I got promoted out of grunt level!
