A friend of mine from the armaaaayyy just enrolled at a for profit school (AIU)

Should I just let him do it or should I try to tell him it's a stupid decision?

Or maybe it isn't? All I know is what I read about AIU on Wikipedia and it seems like a really scummy place.

Got my book stipend. Really wish my tuition would get paid so that the $7000 balance on my student account turns into free money in my pocket by Friday the 13th when the school starts issuing refunds!

Went to say hi to one of my professors. Being at a small school means we have the same prof for multiple classes.

She hooked me up with the text book for her class for free. Not sure if she knew, but it's also the teacher edition.

Small schools rock.

I'm also the oldest person in every class I take (29).

Same. I go at 8 every day even though my MWF classes don't start til 1140. And I stay til 5 even though my latest class gets out at 230.

The school paper has their weekly meetings on Wednesdays and I'll be there from 8a to 930pm since I have morning and night classes (neighbors are going to babysit Monty) so I'll probably do that. It pays the same rate as any other campus job and is less of a physical time commitment.

When I get a car next month I'll be able to go home and take care of my dude but for now it just makes more sense to stay on campus all day.

I wore a pair of workout pants to school as my main outfit for the day one time (it was Friday and I was going to the gym anyway).

I ended my day in the gym and when I was looking in the mirror I noticed. I spent the rest of my workout wondering if that's kinda what cleavage is like for women.

They pro-rate time with regards to full student status. So if 12 Cr is full time then you will be charged for 1/2 the length of your semester and receive 50% of your bah iirc

For fucks sake someone please find out if this is true because I thought benefits get used at the same rate even if it's 1CR or 500CR

(Had someone try to use that as an excuse to gently caress off in school. "I'm doing all of this just for a $120k piece of paper so why work hard?" Goddamn kids are stupid.)

My school is about $35k a year. Throw in dorm fees, required meal plan if you live in dorms, and books and it's closer to $45k a year.

It's legit cheaper to pay $1000/month rent and buy your own food than it is to live on campus.

Private schools are ridiculously expensive.

My professors will generally give you the textbook if they have an extra copy. You just gotta return it at the end of the semester.

They don't tell you this outright. It's one of those unspoken things. One thing college has taught me about the real world that the military lacks completely is that you can actually get places if you just ask questions.

They used club funds to buy handguns and ARs without being licensed to do so or having the permission of the union or university. To get around that they registered the firearms to the club president. That's probably the tip of the iceberg.

it makes just about everything you do in accounting mindless if you just take the time to learn it.
