Ballard Street is a one-panel strip drawn by Jerry Van Amerongen. It covers the things done on what appears to be a street populated by ungainly retirees and their ungainly animal friends. If I remember correctly, the old thread's blurb about it was "it reads like one man having a New Yorker caption contest with himself and losing". It runs Monday through Saturday. Unlike Marlon Manley, who runs whenever he has sufficient motivation.

Science occurs on Ballard Street. I want to make a dumb joke but actually, this setup would be able to detect variances in local g! If you were to have a piece of elastic and a weight on the end, variances in local g would result in a larger/smaller cross section of the elastic It'd be way better with calipers instead of a ruler, though.

Cosima posted:This comic sickens me. And no one who learned English 3 years ago would say "honeyed words", but Brooke is utterly incapable of hiding the fact he owns a thesaurus and a big book of old timey sayings, even when the context requires it. Eh, phrases are something you pick up more from who you're around than anything else. And she lives in a world written by Brooke.

Johnny Aztec posted:Does this actually ever happen anymore, or is it just one of those "things" that get perpetuated forever for a cheap joke? Some dyes are more prone to bleeding out than others and hot water improves the chances. In modern times we have way better detergents that work well at lower temperatures, and dyes that are better at staying in fabrics, so it's less common.

They even have a section where you walk thru a simulated gas chamber. So to invoke the Museum of Tolerance's name for such a crappy joke... I'm torn between being kind of pissed off at it and kind of sad that there isn't a museum where I can climb a small empire state building and swat at biplanes.
