I recall the reception to these being more hit-and-miss, but that may have been because the translations were more low quality, and I couldn't explain the cultural context as well as I can now. As an example, I had no idea what a "Chewriring" was at that time, hence why I called them Chewri Comics. I now know that Chewriring is some sort of weird foreign load word for Tracksuit, so if I were translating these today, I would call them Tracksuit.   And why not, because apparently these are being stored on the same site that has It's All Right Chief Dharma.   Which is set in an office. It too is from South Korea.

If it has to be explained to people not yet in the workforce, that's corporate culture, not national culture.

Tracksuit I'm sure I'm quoting these wrong, since I'm not the kind of person who remembers quotes from the Godfather movies.  So yeah, the joke's an untranslatable pun. Combination consonants are not normally used in the Korean language even with foreign words, so phonetically "Robert" is identical to "Robot". It's All Right Chief Dharma  No matter how many times I see it happen I can't get used to the idea that in South Korea corporations are considered to have obligations to the employees, not the shareholders. I mean yeah it never works out that way in practice anyway but still.  Another untranslatable pun. The President's name is being written in such a way on the front page to look like an adverb, as that word is phonetically mostly indistinguishable from his actual name. Incidentally I don't think his name has ever been mentioned before and it appears to have surfaced here for the sole purpose of making a pun.

I'm guessing that Bean Flour, like Dharma, was published in a newspaper somewhere, but I don't know which one. There's also Mother From Another Country. All three seasons of it are fully archived. The third season is the project that succeeded It's All Right Chief Dharma. That one, though, was a webcomic from the very beginning, although it uses a standardized format as opposed to the infinite canvas most commonly utilized by South Korean webcomics. Or I could just stop posting. Which is probably what would have happened if I'd hit the ending a couple months ago. I'm probably game for the rest of the year at least if anyone still wants me around.

One factor with that has to be that Feuti got rid of that guy with glasses everyone was always dunking on. The whole plot arc with literally everyone getting pissy at him for successfully negotiating a raise was the strip's low point and it's much better when Feuti is focusing on the real villain- corporate. For what it's worth I always thought Dilbert was kind of a jerk, which is why I never really get why people think the current version is significantly different than the nineties one. Aside from the advances in technology this whole thing with the legacy system seems like exactly the kind of sad purgatory that was always the foundation of the strip's jokes. Retail treads a much finer line because it's expecting us to distinguish between sympathetic and unsympathetic characters. Tracksuit   I'm assuming this is some sort of riff on The Defiant Ones.
