That's their legacy now. Something something emails. Maybe. Nobody will be able to tell you anything about what they said or tweeted.

Yeah, and I think at the outset they were a good thing. Obviously Assange going off the rails didn't help but also I think a lot of newspapers and other outlets were pretty quick to set up anonymous, untraceable whistle blower systems which largely made wikileaks redundant which has left them scratching around for a reason to exist

Embattled Health Minister Sussan Ley under fire over partner’s Gold Coast business

THE Future of embattled Health Minister Sussan Ley is in further doubt with the discovery that her partner owns a Gold Coast business close to where she purchased a unit while on a taxpayer funded trip.

Ms Ley’s role as federal Health Minister has been under a cloud since the Herald Sun revealed she purchased a $795,000 Main Beach apartment from a Liberal donor during a taxpayer-funded trip with her partner.

The Sunday Herald Sun can now reveal that Ms Ley’s partner Graham Johnston owns a central Gold Coast franchise of Its Bin Cleaned.

ASIC records reveal Mr Johnston is the sole director and shareholder of Albury-based Highmark Pty Limited, which is listed as the holder of the central Gold Coast It’s Bin Cleaned franchise.

A spokesman for Ms Ley yesterday said Highmark Pty Ltd had always been declared on Ms Ley’s register of interest and no business relating to the company had ever been undertaken by Mr Johnston while on taxpayer funded visits to the Gold Coast.

“Any business that is transacted by Ms Ley’s partner is done so by telephone, from Albury, they said.

The Opposition said the latest revelation further eroded Ms Ley’s claim the unit purchase was “not planned nor anticipated”.

“Sussan Ley is trying to play the Australian people like fools and say this was not a planned purchase — but this new information makes a complete mockery of that,” Opposition Health spokeswoman Catherine King said.

“It couldn’t be clearer. Sussan Ley needs to stand up and explain this or Malcolm Turnbull must enforce his own ministerial standards and sack her from the front bench.

“These are serious allegations and her failure to address them treats the public with nothing but contempt.

“The longer this goes on the longer Malcolm Turnbull is unacceptably turning a blind eye to his own ministerial standards.”

ASIC records lists Mr Johnston’s franchise’s place of business as Unit 5, Yachting Towers Start, 16-18 Macarthur Pde Main Beach, a near neighbour of her new unit.

It’s Bin Cleaned’s website says it offers “professional, reliable and affordable bin cleaning specialising in domestic wheelie bin cleaning, commercial wheelie bin cleaning and all sizes of industrial front loading bins” on the Gold Coast and Sydney.

In 2015 Ms Ley and Mr Johnston told The Australian they met at a pub. “Sussan asked what I did and I told her I was a bin cleaner,” he laughed. “He runs a bin cleaning business,” she added quickly.

Ms Ley has electoral offices in Albury and Griffiths has travelled to or via the Gold Coast on at least six occasions.

A Government code of conduct states ministers must not use their office for private purposes and “due economy is to be observed at all times”.

When she purchased her Gold Coast investment property in May 2015, Ms Ley charged taxpayers $3949 in flights for the 48-hour “official business” trip with Mr Johnston.

After announcing $1.3 million in funding to list new medicines and vaccines at Brisbane’s Wesley Hospital Ms Ley and her husband travelled 80km to the Gold Coast.

The Minister’s office claimed Ms Ley went to the Gold Coast to meet “patients about access to new medicines” but refused to name them or say whether a $268.30 charge to taxpayers for a chauffeur service was used by the couple to travel from the Gold Coast.

Ms Ley’s spokeswoman said Mr Johnston had been invited to accompany her to a function in Sydney the previous evening and then travelled with her to Queensland under family travel arrangements.

Ms Ley’s office says she spends an average of 20 nights away from home each month, “so under ministerial and family travel arrangements Ms Ley’s partner, on occasion, joins her when permitted by the rules.”

Matter of fact, I'm salty now.
I came across a really good article by Andy Fleming aka Slackbastard today, which has some really interesting discussion points seeing as we are coming up to another major round of ultranationalist protests on the 29th. It's basically a reflection and response piece regarding solidarity and the Coburg protests, which represented one of the last major physical clashes between ultranationalists and antifascists. The original article that Slackbastard is responding to is apparently written according to Marxist philosophy regarding solidarity and seld-emancipation.

Basically the crux of the argument is whether the antifascists who actually managed to physically block the UPF/TBC (mere presence, rather than through punching on) were actually actively harming/or not harming the cause of the assembled anti-racists/antifascists who were in a mall a small distance away. The whole anti-confrontation article is sort of predicated on the pro-confrontation antifascists being a minority, and not truley acting out of solidarity. I'd actually argue that the media response heavily factors into the anti-confrontation argument (which focused on the excitement of the small clash which occured). Slackbastard argues that actually calling the people who confronted that UPF/TBC "scabs" is a bit poo poo and actually it prevented the ultranationalists from marching, which I think are extremely fair points.

My view on this Coburg thing is that it was a tactical draw between the UPF/TBC and Anti-racists/antifascists. Originally, the anti-racists were going to do a march and ended up backing down after the UPF/TBC announced that they intended to counter-protest. However, the UPF/TBC were unable to march themselves due to the anti-fascists who physically blocked them. Strategically, the pro-multiculturalist cause won out here as the UPF/TBC failed to get their message out and Blair managed to make himself look like a stormtrooper again. The UPF/TBC haven't been able to pull big numbers like they used to like in the heady days of Reclaim Australia while the pro-multiculturalism guys seem to always get numbers.

Moving forward, I think that if the Jan 29th rallies for ultranationalism aren't challenged, it'll embolden them and we might see another upswing. The recent attack in Berlin has certainly added to the alarmist mindset, although thankfully we haven't experienced mass violence which could be attributed to Islam (although it's sometimes played up in certain news outlets).

That's all a dog and pony show. The LNP would very much like such an issue in the media to distract from their rorting, corruption and undermining of federal law but it won't because wider Australia is wholly unaffected.

Insofar as people still pay attention to legacy media that is. You know their own backers do.
