Yeah, UC2 is easily one of my favourite games ever, it just all comes together so well and I think it's just that more enjoyable knowing how "bad" (it's still great!) UC1 was by comparison. UC3/4 didn't quite get there but still were good. I'd probably rank them 2-3-4-1.

I wonder if the remastered version improved gunplay in 1? Particularly the grenades were dogshit to throw.

I recently replayed all of the borderlands games and dlc for borderlands 3 and can safely say that the presequel is the best of the three shooters and tales from the borderlands is the best borderlands game.

This was my first time trying Tales and it blew me away so much that I have yet to get around to borderlands 3 because I want more Tales. It is currently my game of the year. I do not mean this lightly either. Tales blew me away. So surprised at it.

I really like the style of game of the shooter ones and think they look great and scratch a really fun genre itch that Diablo 3 also scratches. I would like more games in that style please :)

It was BAFFLING to me that Rage 2 didn't have some sort of co-op mode. This massive open world game with fairly repetitive level structure. I thought SURELY they'd put multiplayer in this time but nope

Hopefully this update is to blame for people having trouble with their consoles, I just went to boot up Separation, a PSVR game, and the menu did all sorts of bad things that I’ve never seen it do before, like flickering, glitched looking menu boxes that would move to different pats of the screen, then I just held the power button and it acted like I’d unplugged the PS4 without turning it off. It’s fine now though, just weird because if something like that happens it usually just means the screen is frozen, but scary looking monster-like user interface stuff/menus.

Can’t speak for god wars but I’ve actually played MM Xeno.

Do you love EXTREMELY jank JRPG’s with little to no story? MM Xeno is super fun in a “how many cannons can I put on my tank so that my tank will eventually shoot 50 times in one turn” and that’s the expected goal so you can beat the final boss. The non tank combat is pretty butt and it looks like a HD PS2 game. If you can buy the game for 20$ you could definitely do worse, but if you’re going in wanting a top notch tight gameplay experience you are better served elsewhere.

I returned to Gyoubu and beat him in 3-4 tries, which was pretty good considering he was previously wiping the floor with me before I could even get his first bar halfway down. Then I went back to the estate and beat the Shinobi Hunter spear guy in 2 tries (only a mini-boss but he was also kicking my rear end). I don't like the setting as much as Bloodborne but the combat is just

Haha I was gonna ask what Metal Max Xeno was, the cover art reminds me of some other JRPG, but I don’t think I’ve actually seen the game outside of the PS Store.

The Surge 2 deluxe edition is on sale for like $23, and I never really got into the first Surge game, but I feel like I might have liked it if I spent a bit more time with it.. also at the time I played it, I hadn’t beaten like Demon’s Souls or finished DS1, or possibly 2 so I just always ended up playing for about an hour before I was too tempted to play more Souls games. Now that I’ve finished all of them multiple times and I’ve also beaten Ashen and almost finished Nioh 2, I think The Surge 2 would be fun, and it seems like it’s better than the first, or at least it seems that way according to reviews and from goons.

Is the combat all that different? It felt weird to me, but it just took some time to start to adjust and learn enemy attacks, but knocking off certain mech parts was a bit wonky feeling still. The level design looks less dreary tho, and hopefully the combat has improved, but would anyone recommend it to someone who hasn’t played the first much? Or is it very much the same combat with other, less important improvements as far as the moment to moment gameplay, or like would I just be better off attempting to play the first game again?

It's like the sixth or seventh game in a series that started on the NES, really open ended sandbox RPGs where you build tanks and roll around Mad Max/Tank Girl land and do odd jobs. That is, to the exclusion of having any kind of real plot

I think one big difference in the violence etween MK and TLOU2 is just realistic context. It's like how the MPAA gives less weight to killing someone with a sword than a knife or gun. Because a few nerds aside no one is emulating sword violence.

Similarly the idea of a martial arts tournament is so goofy and absolutely unreplicable it's alien to almost every human on earth. On the other hand bashing or strangling people to death for angry or hate is extremely close to home.

MK violence may look realistic but is cartoony in the sense it never feels like it matters or actually "happens". The charactes might as well be Itchy & Scratchy for how these devastating injuries and brutal murders don't stop them from getting back up or re-appearing over and over. It doesn't feel the same as when Lara Croft disembowels some merc who is dead for good.

The whole series has this problem up to BL3, where even the pea shooters feel fairly satisfying. Some of the guns in Borderlands 1/2/PS feel like they’re gently blowing tissue paper at the enemies despite doing oceans of damage.

BL1 was a janky experimental thing and a bit overly dry, but when you got a gun that felt good, it felt great. Shotguns that fire with an unrealistic but satisfying CHUNK and make someone’s top half disappear, blasting legs off with pistol shots, a six-projectile-per-shot sniper rifle that does exactly what you think it’s gonna do, they were rare but they change the game immensely.

BL2 and Pre-Sequel expanded the game in a lot of great ways and vastly improved the weapon variety, but the impact you have on enemies and the far less crunchy sound design made it all feel a little un-impactful. A small but big thing is in BL2 and PS, headshots can’t pop heads human enemies, which just makes everything feel weaker.

BL3 basically kept/expanded on the weapons from 2, dialed down the color palette a smidge but not quite to BL1 levels, and brought back full dismemberment and gore, but the whole game feels almost a bit over-tuned and has that whole live service game thing going of constant patching, which can be a pain.

I think they’re all pretty good in their own ways, but I can definitely see the early game parts for BL1 or BL2 being a big turnoff.

It's worth a shot but if you look around and find your local electronics repair place they could fix it for $100-150. I used one to get my ps4 pro fixed last year.

At this point all you want is the cheapest way to get back to gaming on ps4 until ps5. And good luck finding a new slim/pro or even used in this time.

No. It's not as good as most of the later ones, but it's still a lot of fun and does some neat things that the later games don't. The combat is the weakest aspect, so I would agree with the recommendations to play it on Easy.

I'm on 3 in my replay, and I think I might actually like 1 better than it. The moment to moment gameplay is greatly improved by 3, but the story and setpieces just don't feel as cohesive. 1 feels like it had a coherent vision behind it, and 3 feels like they had a bunch of cool ideas and tried to fit them all together with mixed levels of success.
