If the new CoD is all multiplayer why is it a named sequel to BlOps? Does that line of CoD titles have good name recognition or something? If there's no continuation of a single-player story it seems weird to continue using that name.

You get a bunch of dossiers and videoes.

And there actually is a “story” of sorts and the lore ties into the previous Black Ops games including returning characters I believe

Despite being the prime example of your typical overbudgeted linear setpiece shooter series there’s some crazy narrative detail going on in CoD, even if it’s usually just hinted at. It’s why I’ve always had a soft spot for the single player/zombie side of things.

Bought RE6 for Mercenaries and you have to play through the intro to be able to access it. Sweet Christmas it's awful. The QTEs, the hilariously overdone action that is trying way too hard to look cool, the whole enterprise just reeks of "Hello fellow kids". I am glad RE7 was able to rebound.

Then after TLOU, please play the DLC, Left Behind. There’s a little less emphasis on combat and a little more on pushing the boundaries of storytelling in a videogame. It’s one of my favorite DLCs of anything

I preferred Rev 2 and Rev 1 felt like a 3DS game (since it was) but I wouldn't say it was bad either.

At the time Revelations was released, introducing some mild backtracking and horror elements was seen as a nice change of pace from RE6. Right now, I think it's fine enough, but there are probably a lot better options out there. Revelations 2 wasn't as successful. I think the episodic release turned a lot of people off. But it did take a few risks, featured a strong cast, and tied in with the series mythology well enough that I liked it more than Rev1.

I wanted to like Revs 2 but I think it's my single least favorite RE game. Even over RE6. Been trying to play it again on Switch and it's so sloppily designed and ugly looking. I had to quit because the checkpointing is so bad I'll have to restart the whole game. My view of the first one is probably skewed by it being a 3DS game which blew me away at the time. To me at least the first one felt like it had real effort put into it. Revs 2 has some stuff I like but the overall quality just feels insanely bad to me. I think it's the only RE game I've never finished (played like 80% of it though) barring the PSX gun game and 0, both of which I've never tried. veni veni veni fucked around with this message at 08:57 on Oct 20, 2018 |

TLOU doesn’t do anything that movies haven’t already been doing for decades, but it brings good-movie-level thoughtful stuff to videogames Also, please don’t post spoilers you twats, there’s a person playing through it for the first time posting in here

I can't go through Rev 2 anymore. The constant character switching that the game kind of wants you to do got on my nerves. The raid mode in it was formulaic garbage that went from kind of a linear progression through a level to arena based wave respawn boring stuff. In addition to that, characters had to individually level up which meant if you wanted to play multiple characters, you had large timesink.
