I lost the first P-38 I bought almost immediately after getting it, so I bought a pack of like 20 to keep in a ziplock bag. It's a lot easier to keep track of.

In that case, it totally seems worth 80 cents to get one that never fails.

So, not exactly AliExpress, but close! Does anyone have a taobao agent they'd recommend?

I'm tired of paying for overpriced Chinese stuff and want to get closer to the source.

You can use it without an agent now, you have to deal with translation though. Hardest part is signing up because it doesn't handle google translate well, use a guide and it's way easier.

Hmmmm.... I am dirt cheap and shaving my head is a surprising amount of hair upkeep. It's a lot of working being bald. How many uses do those safety razors last?

Shaving my head is way too much work, I just use clippers. But I do use double edge razors for my face, they last 10-30 shaves depending on how dull you can stand. Don't leave them in the shower or they will rust and dull faster. The cool part is that you can buy really nice blades (I like feather) for something like 100/$20.

We've come back around to fountain pens. I've bought a crapload of them off Ali. All in the $3 to $5 range. Mostly Jinhao. Been pretty satisfied overall. No bent nibs, except for the ones I keep dropping onto cement floors. Really got to get the hang of this whole opposable thumbs thing.

Yeah, the chinese pens are mostly servicable with some gems and an occasional stinker. I've gotten maybe 10 and the nibs are mostly mediocre but usually at least work. They are almost all super fine points unfortunately. None of the nibs have been as good as the nibs on my Preppies, if anyone is looking for good non-nonsense writing tool you really can't go wrong getting a couple Preppies from Amazon for $3 each. Get a medium and fine and see what you think.

Back to aliexpress, I'd recommend the WingSung 698 as a cool piston fill demonstrator if you want something fancier than the $3 pens. It takes #5 nibs so you can change it to something cooler than an ultra-fine nib like a stub.

Was that the guy who talked about workers cutting chips off random thrown out American electronics and just washing that poo poo in the local river to be reused in whatever poo poo the manufacturers thought they could get away with putting it in? Cause that was a wild ride.

Electronics stripping is a thing and there are huge safety / labor concerns with how it is accomplished now. But that is high-level recycling happening. If we crush / bury those PCBs we get very little or no value. The pulled chips are mostly OK and reusable, much better as long as they are useful.

I repair old stuff sometimes, it is pretty nice to be able to buy 30 year old chips that have been pulled from a board instead of having them be high-priced NOS or unavailable. My Ali orders of old chips have been shockingly good with regard to the chips being labeled correctly and working.
