Awesome result especially for Tommi Mäkinen and Akio Toyoda who've taken quite a bit of criticism for giving the Toyota WRC effort to Tommi Mäkinen instead of continuing with Toyota Motorsport Gmbh. It is quite a feat to build a WRC team and cars from scratch in 1 ½ years and finish 2nd in the first rally and 1st in the second rally! The Yaris WRC are built at the farm where Tommi was born and where most of the 140 people employed by Toyota Gazoo Racing now work: https://www.google.fi/maps/place/To...16!4d25.7146609

16 year old Kalle Rovanperä is running second in a Finnish Championship rally after 7 stages. 1.7 s from leader after losing 30 s to a puncture on SS3. The co-driver has to drive between the stages because Kalle doesn't yet have a driving license. He has to turn 18 until he can get one.

Edit2: Kalle won! His first rally in Finland. Beat 10 times Finnish Champion Juha Salo by more than a minute despite the puncture.

Incar from SS4 which he won by 15 s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9otiWfmXrQ

Very fast steering and steering geometry that makes them heavy (lots of caster, designed only to be used with power steering) would be my guess.

Cobra, E-Type & TVR race about to start in Goodwood!

(Ferrari, Aston, Mustang, Lotus etc. are also running, but the winner will be one of the above three.)

The first 10 stages of WRC Rally Finland have gone quite well for the home teams (Finland & Toyota):

That is great. Would love for Lappi to get his first win. Ogier has crashed out on one of the first stages, and Neuville is far behind.

Today Lappi has road position advantage over Latvala. That will even out tomorrow, which may give the edge to Latvala. Not to mention possibility of team orders. Considering where Neuville is and what happened to Ogier, a win here would put Latvala back in to the hunt for the championship.

Nooo. Latvala in trouble. Also lol at Hanninen crushing all the usual top drivers. Flying Finns indeed.

Apparently ECU failed without warning. I believe they had new engines for this rally with Ilmor developed software. I wonder if they use Ilmor ECUs or Ilmor just writes/tunes the software. TMG still makes the mechanical parts of the engine, I think.

Shame for Latvala. Winning here seemed almost certain and it would have given him a chance to compete for the championship. Now it is highly unlikely. On the other hand it is likely that Lappi will win a WRC rally with his 4th attempt. It think no one else has done that at least since early eighties, depending on how you count them.

Its been a good season, and Wales was cool. Great rally by Evans making it 7 different winners this year.

Its sucks that M-Sport looks like it could be gutted for next year after winning both championships. Tanak has already signed with Toyota, and Ogier might go to Citroen. Granted, Citroen has financial issues of its own, but they have UAE royal family support that could probably pony up, whereas M-Sport get nothing from Ford.

M-Sport doesn't get "nothing" from Ford. Ford does support them, but not on full factory effort level.

It has been interesting that the car's of each team appear to strong in different rallies. There hasn't been a clear "best" car like there was during the VW years. M-Sport is the team that has been competitive in every rally i.e. probably the best compromise for 2018.

Apparently Ogier asked for a Toyota 2018 seat in July, but Toyota chose Tanak instead. I am quite confident that it is M-Sport or retirement for Ogier in 2018.
