I have no idea why it took Amazon over a week to ship my pre-order of this, but they finally did and I'm loving stoked y'all. They did it along with my pre-order of Hitman Season 1 tho so this weekend suddenly became absolutely insane for video games

Cleared Chapter 4 last night with almost 30 hours under my belt. Game fuckin' rules. Spent all Friday night and almost all last night doing a bunch of sidequests with both boys and I feel pretty burnt out on em but I'm glad I did them. I'll probably just stick to the real estate and cabaret side stuff for the rest of the game and mainline the rest of the story unless I come across more great sidequests like "A Government Official Asks Your Opinion On Taxes" or "Help This Woman Be A Better Dom". I finally got good at taking down Mr. Shakedowns with Majima's Slugger style and it feels great. I was very much just gonna focus on Slugger as my main fighting style but then I got Breaker so whoops. I wish I liked Kiryu's Beast style more, but I really just stick to Brawler or Rush if there's only one bigger guy

I was really nervous about playing Kiwami after all I had heard about it, but I've been enjoying it! Yakuza still rules. I hope Kiryu and his boyfriend Nishiki can make up after all this. It's def still a remake of a PS2 game but maybe I'm just simpleminded as I'll never not enjoy bouncing couches off a dude's head and dropping kicking fools. I'm still a bit burnt out from doing all of the Real Estate/Cabaret stuff and over half of the substories from 0 last summer, is there anything in Kiwami that's that level of importance? If someone told me they beat 0 without really touching Real Estate/Cabaret, I'd feel they missed a large chunk of content. I'm still doing substories as I run into them and engaging with Majima Everywhere as they happen, but I'm kinda looking to mainline this one a bit more.

I can see where Kiwami 1 falters, but idk, I'm not too bummed about it, even though I'm mainline-ing the story much more. It's still Yakuza and a melodramatic crime drama.

Someone needs to do a count of how many substories in Kiwami 1 are someone trying to scam Kiryu or him getting pickpocketed. I'm sure those were in the original before the substories got utterly goofy, so not much Kiwami could do about them, but still it is unreal

Repeating phrases you hear can only be so helpful without having the original or romanized script, especially in a video game setting where like, this is very much not how people sincerely talk, but it does give some idea to basic phrases and just how Japanese sounds. Plus it's fun to just say baka yarou!

I'd say make a new thread solely for Yakuza 6. I'm still playing through Kiwami and might ask stuff here and I'm cool with it being a catchall Yakuza thread but adding 6 on top with everyone playing it might get crowded with more mechanics/spoiler talk

they're very cute actually. Just finished Chapter 8 of Kiwami and wondering if it's worth mainlining the story? I've done over 30 substories and have near every ability that isn't any of the Lv. 85 ones. Those and Majima Everywhere (Almost at A Rank) just aren't really grabbing me like Real Estate and the Cabaret were. Basically just asking if there's anything that's super cool, funny or important to check out before speeding to the end, I wanna make sure I have an appetite for Kiwami 2 when it drops

Is doing the Coliseum worth it for all those skills, Tiger Drop etc? or is my time better spent just beating the game because hachi machi that's a lotta points also is there anywhere I should be going to buy better armor, I'm on Chapter 9 and my highest stat is at like 7 which is probably not great Danaru posted:Anyone who avoids fighting Majima is a cop slugger majima too

I picked up Kiwami 2 last, mostly because it was going off of sale, and then was kinda feeling bad about because I'm about to be really busy again, maybe this purchase was a bit foolish, but I was instantly charmed by holding hands with Haruka in the graveyard and by the time Kiryu threw a guy into a piano and was mean mugging at Ryuji, I remembered that these are some of the coolest games ever made. The Yakzua 6 engine is just blowing my mind, standing first person in a fake Lawson and listening to the ambient noise is delightful. I watched all of that three hour Tim Rogers Judge Eyes stream and god that game's gonna kick rear end

Alright cool. I say I won't touch the Cabaret stuff but that's what I said two games ago so.... I actually really like playing the three minute game, but partnering with business, getting good hostesses and playing dress up all over from zero bums me out. At least I get to hear As You Like all the time again

Yeah I'm realizing I also did way too much Majima Everywhere, and never really got sick of it, but it was basically doing homework. I think Pocket Circuit is the only long running side plot I never ever touched, I'm sorry Pocket Fighter

being able to walk up the three flights of stairs and go into an internet cafe and then go smoke in the smoking section looks so loving sick, so i hope they never stop i would Die in a digital version of kamurocho. you can really tell how small areas like sotenbori are in comparison cause i loving fell over like half the coin locker keys just doing the main story in chapter 2 of kiwami 2

I honestly really like waiting for them to come out on PS4, like I kinda hope they don't all drop at once. It's like waiting for the next film in a big action series, but a lot shorter. Plus they're fifty hours and I don't wanna get burnt out. Though I do think I'll probably mainline Kiwami 2 and just do whatever substories I run into. I'm not interested in the Majima Construction stuff though I love seeing those wrestlers just using their real rear end names, though maybe I'll do the Cabaret stuff a bit, but building back up my perfect team from Yakuza 0 is a bummer. I did start the Majima saga stuff and that rules tho, I'll def do that. They got Takehito Koyasu to voice the prettyboy bad guy that Majima's probably gonna fight!
