Hey, I'm actually Facebook friends with Ian Jones-Quartey because I met him at a party in college in 2006 (it was a memorable party because a bunch of girls went completely topless). On the train on the way back home he discussed wanting to be an animator. I don't really know anything about Steven Universe because I haven't watched it, but it looked like he succeeded in his dream so that's cool.

Simply put, he's comfortable and doesn't want to change. Job, girlfriend, it's all the same. These things take motivation and drive. It seems hes perfectly happy having his mom pay for his existence, and he's happy reading fanfic and posting on forums, so why change if you're happy? Wait, ARE you happy op?

I don't even mean that in the "no woman will want an unemployed man" sense, I mean that you need to be getting out of your mom's basement and functioning normally before you start looking for a girlfriend. If you can't find even a part-time job, I would recommend signing up for a least 10 hours a week of volunteer work somewhere. Anything to get yourself out of the house and working and interacting normally with other people. If you can do that and stick to it, the rest will follow.

Jeez, deathbot and sucrose, you guys are really hooked up on the material world. Some people are little more free spirited and want to really enjoy what the world has to offer like quality animation.
