Media in the Phillipines are reporting that Pac wll be coming back against Matthysse in June 24 in Kuala Lumpur but I'd be skeptical that without Top Rank this is going the way of the Amir Khan fight in Dubai that never happened last April. Big step up from Mile High Mike if it happens though. https://www.badlefthook.com/2018/3/8/17096484/manny-pacquiao-vs-lucas-matthysse-reportedly-set-for-june-24th-in-malaysia

Bunch of big fights at 140 in the coming up (Garcia-Lipinets and Barthelemy-Relikh tomorrow, Jose Ramirez-Amir Imam next week and Terry Flanigan-Maurice Hooker in April) so nice too see that division consolidating rapidly after the belt diaspora when Crawford moved up.

Even in hindsight i'll still say that Rigo was Lomachenko's biggest test but I would consider Linares a greater threat to beat Loma (even if I wouldn't pick either unless getting crazy odds) because he has the handspeed to, on his absolute best night, put the kind of showing together that would actually make judges comfortable giving him a decision victory. That being said he's looked less than stellar even against the Anthony Crolla/Mercito Gesta tier that I think Loma will neutralize him early and cut him up within 9. FWIW, I also think if he were to fight Garcia he gets knocked out after not too long because Mikey's is just too fundamentally strong and Linares-despite being crazy athletically gifted-is just not technically sound enough to be elite imo. EDIT: All lol that mmm whatchya say (and Yuri Foreman's) boy Arthur Mercante Jr. is doing the Gvozdyk fight that's on ESPN now. Suck it up champ VVV: Also this. Linares has been around for a real long time. The Antonio DeMarco and Yeyo Thompson losses were in 2011 and 12. Though in his credit he hasn't lost since then. For being a Top Rank guy for so long Tim Bradley is really having trouble giving Jose Ramirez credit. It's pretty nip/tuck with a less than elite pressure fighter (Ramirez) against a less than elite boxer (Amir Imam). It's no surprise that neither hasn't been able to establish their will but I don't really the see the blowout at all.

Little twitter spat going on right now between Lennox Lewis and Showtime between whether or not the last undisputed heavyweight champion was Mike Tyson in 1987 or him in 1999. The whole crux of Showtime's argument was that the WBO was considered a major sanctioning body in the late 90s. Didn't follow boxing then but from what I see, the #boxingscribes I trust say it wasn't. I don't know if it's just someone unwilling to admit a researcher got something wrong or a promotional tagline for AJ-Parker that's taken on a life of its own. https://twitter.com/LennoxLewis/status/976126105865408512 https://twitter.com/ShowtimeBoxing/status/976204605016158208 The SituAsian fucked around with this message at 00:07 on Mar 21, 2018 |

MMM Whatchya Say posted:We had a good run in 2017, let's not forget that. True, this is pretty disappointing the moment but you are right that there is ton of momentum from a lot of places (lot of good fights still being made, various new media deals) that at the very least we should avoid the every other year curse completely. That being said I would assume Golovkin still wants to fight on May 5 no matter what. Ideally it would be the Jacobs rematch or Saunders for all the belts but if he ends up fighting Spike O'Sullivan or Sergiy Derevyanchenko then it's better than nothing I guess. At least very least those wouldn't be on pay per view. And I can take advantage of the deals in Vegas and get to the right

I certainly don't think Andrade can beat Golovkin-if he ever could- but I worry the fight would be a real stinker. Sergiy could at least have some fireworks.. By then he had been elected as a senator in the Philippines, which is a way more involved position than congressman which he had been since 2010, and it was pretty clear he was only a part time boxer and playing by his own rules in camp and Roach-like all good trainers-wasn't going to stand for it. He was also (as Cigar Aficonado noted) honest about Pacquiao having no chance against Crawford which no doubt got to Manny's ego a bit. Yeah, as Mike noted the IBF is the most pain in the rear end when it comes to enforcing their mandatory challenger who is currently an undefeated Russian Sergey Derevyanchenko. I really blame Tom Loeffler for this mess-though in fairness he's done a fantastic job to even get Golovkin to this level-because it seems as if there were no contingencies even though the news broke in early March (and I'm guessing Golovkin's team would've gotten a heads up not too long after the failed test in February). Of course I never thought the fight would have been canceled but it's not my job to manage Gennady Golovkin's career and make the appropriate backup plans. In this instance his team did an incredibly poor job. The SituAsian fucked around with this message at 00:23 on Apr 19, 2018 |

I had assumed that Usyk wasn't really injured and it was a ploy to get the final out of Saudi Arabia and move it to Russia but I'm not really sure what is or isn't real or posturing anymore. In terms of something better happening it appears as if Mikey Garcia will be facing off against Robert Easter this summer to unify 135 belts. Assuming the promotional logistics work it's a pretty easy path to fully unifying the division after Lomachenko-Linares winner fights Ray Beltran to unify the other two straps. https://www.badlefthook.com/2018/5/8/17333708/garcia-vs-easter-benavidez-card-in-works-for-july-28
