For some reason, the default setting of any application that makes a bell sound is to enable the bell sound. This is backwards. The default should be to disable the bell sound. If you believe that any application providing a bell sound should disable that sound by default, please sign this petition. I just had to disable the bell sound in intellijvim by creating an intellijvim.rc file and adding some nonsense to it. seriously.
