So it seems like if I go down this road I should just get a shotty with like 50 shells and then upgrade to an AR clone if I actually shoot the drat thing. Does this seem reasonable?

e: also would appreciate make/model/quote

If you can't afford a used Glock 19, then get a shotgun - Remington 870, Mossberg 500 or 590. Buy a shitload of ammo and learn how to run it, and learn how to handle it inside your house.

If you can afford a Glock 19, but not a quality AR, then buy the Glock and some spare magazines & a good holster & belt.

If you can afford an AR, buy an AR, and a dozen or so magazines (unless you took more home when you ETSed), then a quality red dot.

Also invest in a small & bright flashlight to keep with your pistol. Something like 70% of shootings take place in dark environments and with cheap AA / AAA lights coming out of China for $30 with 100+ lumens, there's no excuse not to have one.

I'm a bridge inspector. I have the best and most luxurious flashlights.

I appreciate the post though. Exactly what I was hoping to see.

Are the oystercatchers the things they rope off the dunes heading into Ocracoke for?

Work called a day off today due to excess cold. So I bundled up and tried to get up to Dream lake for a nice sunrise shot.

Unfortunately, wind and snow at the lake itself was such that visibility was <200m. So I took this one as I was coming back down the trail instead.

This reminds me desperately of 49 Degrees, north of Spokane. It is a place I desperately want to get back to. Love the shot.

Spent a week and a half in Cowichan Valley, BC on Vancouver Island. There was barely a cloud in the sky the entire time. I've got a bunch more sunrise/sunset photos that I'll probably post later. Did a lot of river tubing/lake swimming.

That bridge was built in 1883. Its simultaneously the oldest bridge I've ever been on and probably in the best shape of any bridge I've been on built before 1950. The second oldest I've been on I think I was built in 1895 and underwent a full restoration in the early 90s.
