I apologize if this is the wrong place - I had a very minor but odd problem. I see ads for the Alpha for "Oxygen Not Inlcuded" and can go to the Steam page for GE game, but there is no "BUY" button anywhere? Am I missing something here? How the gently caress are all these things even getting greenlit in the first place? Has steam lowered the greenlight requirement to 2 upvotes any length of time apart? Or are there actually just hundreds of mentally disabled people unironically upvoting these things? Or are the devs all paying for shady services to get them greenlight? I feel like they can't all be the latter, as that would require a budget of over $100.

Until Valve stepped in to put a stop to it, it was not at all uncommon for devs to promise free keys to folk who voted to get a game greenlit. And if you're wondering how that makes any business sense, most of these games also were using/abusing the card market to get cash.

Serious answer: the bar was lowered massively after they swapped from monthly or rarer batches of greenlighting the top 100 titles at a time to "whoever wants to, just click on the top until your wrist gets tired and that's the day's arrivals". Adding to this is that bundles tend to have "vote on Greenlight and get a key" links you can conveniently click to raise a lot of hits fast, and itch.io creators may also spam anyone who's claimed a key from them to do similar (hi a few devs I've dealt with). Combine the above and you can fly through real quick with a little effort. There are also services you can pay for a block of votes but I've heard Valve has been watching for that and banning the bots where they find them. Dunno if that's a thing still to consider.

Just got a coupon for this game and it looks like a doozy. Generic shitballs horror with  random naked , a room that just has a Hitler propaganda video playing in it, a villain that's just some rear end in a top hat in a trenchcoat, fedora, and gas mask, and also this.

Yang made a couple very interesting experimental narrative games (radiator 1 and a stargazing thing) with the source engine, then for some reason started to make games, as far as I can tell, exclusively about sexytimes with guys. The earlier games did interesting stuff with ambiguous gender or had gay relationships at their core, but it's gotten increasingly...esoteric and limited in scope since then. Like, if that's all you want to do, ok, and I don't have a problem with the subject matter, but it's been a few years now, and every single design I've seen him post or prototype he's built out has been on that fairly narrow theme. I'd find this equally concerning if it were fixated on straight sex. At least it looks like he's still doing interesting work with interaction, though.

Radiator 2 is free on Steam, it's a funny way to kill 20 minutes but yeah there is kind of a point of diminishing returns with Robert Yang trying to make literally every single project he touches be some kind of wacky homoerotic novelty minigame.
