Per Dave,Anthem is apparently looking to freeze salaries and possibly shrink the roater in order to triage expenses. Not sure what that means for the Hardies or Galloway

I think oatgan was threatening him and Roque with a probation/mod challenge or something in the 2016 ROH thread on Adam Cole leaving but never got around to it because they never commit to anything, and oatgan stepped down before the payout.

RealFoxy posted:How long's it been since Vacant's last title run in TNA? How long has it been since a really dumb tournament that makes no sense? Gail vacated the Knockouts title in August and Lashley vacated the KOTM and X division championships in August. (Though the KOTM title was eventually ruled dead) They vacated the title after Matt Hardy won it off of EC3 at BFG 2015 and then booked a tournament based off of random matches they taped which featured things like Suicide wrestling (even though he had unmasked as TJ Perkins and was out of the company) or Mahabeli Shera wrestling as Khoya his old gimmick that he lost when he left a James Storm group. In the finals of the tournament Matt Hardy beat EC3 Then there has been the entire Grand shampionship which is a bizarre MMA inspired title and it's initial champion Aron Rex. Martian Buddy posted:Are they still doing that thing where they tape a month in advance? considering that every company not named WWE tapes in advance, this really isn't that big a deal and is kind of the actual smart way to do poo poo if you don't have to broadcast it live. and with where TNA is financially, broadcasting it live is stupid. Chris James 2 posted:Usually 2 months in advance. Stuff taped in the first week or two of January airs throughout this month into next month, right around when the next tapings will start. I think they're cutting down on the # of tapings in a session. The last two sessions were almost a week long, but that was when they were on shakier ground.

MassRafTer posted:Look at the total lack of buzz for ROH TV and tell me it is somehow a good thing to have a month of TV in the can. TNA did something sort of kind of buzz worthy at the tapings a month ago and it hasn't even aired yet. No one gives a poo poo now. ROH TV sucks because they rarely shoot hot angles unless its leading up to Final Battle or another big show and their schedule is weird. ROH's post-PPV tapings don't show up until weeks after the actual PPV which makes it hard to really get any actual post-PPV buzz going. TNA doesn't really have that problem because their a broke promotion that runs 2 big shows a year and isn't forced to shoot some really weird asynchronous programming schedule. MassRafTer posted:Historically I can't think of a single show that is as out of date as TNA and was really successful except for WWF TV in the 80s. I think they only taped 4-5 weeks out too. Memphis did 90 minutes weekly. Crockett did weekly tapings every Wednesday, I think Mid South did weekly tapings, as did Portland, St. Louis, Hawaii and pretty much every other territory I can think of.Those kind of tapings wouldn't be cost effective anymore but taping two months out is never going to produce gripping TV. It feels stale before you see it. TNA's next set of tapings is 4-5 weeks. Grendels Dad posted:One big problem with the extend of advanced tapings TNA does is that it just smacks of desperation. It doesn't quite come across as a cost-cutting thing and more like a "Holy poo poo we might not be in business tomorrow, here I found some spare change how much can we tape with that" thing. THe last 2 rounds of tapings were pretty much desperation moves by Dixie as she was looking to sell. Though now that it's happened and they're not taping 2+ months of TV in a session, I'm interested in how it'll go.

Serious question who had the worst talent issues right now TNA for pissing off top card guys on a thin roster Lucha Underground and AAA abusing visas, being complete dicks to talent, and threatening rival promotions for using their old workers ROH for being ROH and getting outclassed by seemingly everyone including their own partners.

DJExile posted:Do LU and ROH actually pay talent? Are we allowed to count wrestlers keeping money that fans throw at them after the matches as promotions paying them. I'm just kidding LU sort of pays talent but they partnered and cross promoted with AAA to sign most of the Mexican talent and AAA pulled what TNA is trying to do the Hardys and demand a hefty booking fee. Unlike the Hardys, the luchadors trusted their office to do a foreign language booking, so AAA stole a poo poo ton of money from them and then used it as leverage to blacklist then in both US and Mexican promotions if they quit. Oh and now AAA effectively runs the LU on the talent side of things. ROH pays some people really well to go to Japan and wrestle and then basically ignores everyone else financially and/or creatively. Mostly creatively.
