If they get a depth dman at the Deadline, they're almost going to have to put him on waivers WE'RE SO CLOSE, CBAS. Also, why do I have a weird feeling Jarmo's going to pull a deal for Duchene out of his rear end like he did Gaborik in the "Where the hell did that come from?" department?

If you want to go a bit further back, Nash was traded for a package including Dubinsky and the pick which turned into Rychel. Interesting to note four of the CBJ's top six were first rounders. Nutivaara was a 7th and Savard was (I think) a 3rd.

Coach talk, eh? Hitchcock in Columbus was the victim of ownership being too drat stupid to fire Howson instead, but I liked him. I have no good lasting impression of Arniel and he should've been fired 20 games before he was. I liked Richards save for his chronic inability to get a decent start to the season, with achieving the literal worst possible start to the season scenario being his undoing. Torts rules.

The CBJ must have heard I'm working at the college I attended this time 10 years ago and are trying to fully make me feel like it's 2007, because they did this against LA, Chicago, St. Louis, Edmonton, and Phoenix in 2006-07 and it frustrated the hell out of me. Just as long as Boston doesn't win the Atlantic (checks standings; thank God). Jackets have slumped recently, but I have faith that Torts/Shaw/Larsen/McCudden can figure out how to get it fixed in 29 games. They'll be in, it's just a matter of where and how long wind up lasting. And the fact I'm typing that last sentence this season still blows my mind. Levitate posted:I mean most teams in the league no matter how good they are go through hot and cold stretches. Even if you're awesome it's hard to be awesome over an entire 82 game schedule, this is probably more the bottom end of the Blue Jackets swing that's balancing out the top end they had going early in the season. I'd also expect the Caps to come back to earth a bit as well. Caps aren't going to score 5-6 goals per game the rest of the way. This article (looks like it's from a Caps blog) talks about how Henrik Zetterberg compared the CBJ and Caps and gives the CBJ the "harder to play against" tag, also talking about how it's no cake walk to the finish for the Caps: http://www.russianmachineneverbreak...n-the-capitals/

Play like that and you're getting swept the gently caress out in the first round. Last night was the first win streak-like, complete effort I've seen out of the CBJ in a while. Seemingly clogging the middle and creating turnovers at will, including the one which led to Bjorkstrand's breakaway goal. They'd been coming out of the post-streak hangover they'd had, but are consistently looking better, which is reassuring.
