It's the combination of boredom and 2/3rds of the IndyCar schedule being on road courses. They need more ovals.

Indycar has been road racing focused for 30 years. It's boom period coincided with more road racing. There was once an all-oval Indycar series; it was the biggest piece of poo poo imaginable.

Robby Gordon just wasn't meant for asphalt and the results showed

Robby was very talented but he was also a hothead and extremely prone to making really stupid mistakes at critical moments.

Bruton Smith is both the reason for all the lovely cookie cutter tracks and he's the guy who repaved Bristol and ruined it. He's also the one who killed Wilkesboro.

Enoch Staley sounds like a good guy.

You can also do a Motegi and just happen to build the oval and road course on top of each other, without them sharing any bit of tarmac, but Motegi's road course stinks anyway.

I like how Motegi is both a bad oval and bad road course, all in one.

If drivers getting killed made a sport more popular open wheel would be king in America.

Losing Davey and Alan was arguably damaging, not helpful. It's actually amazing that NASCAR didn't get hurt over losing two young generational talents in half a year.

The truth is that Jeff Gordon made NASCAR popular. Not deaths.

Gordon was a boon.

Retro 80s styling is very, very difficult to do. Like the only example I can think of that was done well, at all, is the 5th gen Prelude de.

I don't think people were clamoring for an Aussie sedan.

The internet was clamouring for non-luxury sports sedan with manual transmission. This one even had the best V8 ever! GM gave them one and nobody bought it. Anybody that had the means to buy one probably just purchased a Camaro *SUPRISE!* Now, the entire internet is backpedalling saying that the SS was too expensive/looked too bland/didn't perform well enough (???) so that's why they didn't buy one. It's total bullshit - anybody that wants a fast American car with a V8 either A.) Gets a muscle car or B.) Gets a muscle car.
