Shadow King was originally just an Egyptian mutant but I guess later they retconned him into being this multidimensional evil ghost monster thing.

the tar slime chicken egg baby thing is still hopping around and I don't think its a pet of the Shadow King. At first I thought it was just an 'idea' like implied but its leaving actual trails of slime around so its a 'real' thing as real as anything in the show is. It popped into ptonomy's head and made him do something, but we never see what. We do get the impression that basket head guy knows what he was up to because it cuts to a camera view of ptonomy. We still don't know who exploded the pool in season one for sure do we? Did we ever find out if Melanie had some kind of power and what it was?

Also Kerry finds some of the black slime when they're in ptonomy's delusion and then he asks david if anyone else is around and david says no which was kind of an interesting thing.

I just guessed it was some other mutant that we just never got to see. Summerland had people around with abilities that have the potential for extreme violence, like that one person who flies in and does like Cannonball on one of the Division 3 guards. or the rock flinging telekinesis guy who later got stabbed.

In the script for the pilot there were two named mutants who accompany Syd when rescuing David. One of them has explicit fireball powers so somewhere along the way they just ended up changing them to Kerry and Ptonomy, but left in the fire exploding everything.

This is the worst discussion ever but if that is a person shape with bare arms that you seem to think made a less than 1 second appearance in the pilot as an extra member of the team whose mutant ability is to zoom directly into the sky at ludicrous speeds and never appear again, then this theoretical character came flying in directly from the same angle as the guy who just fell over and went off the side of the screen several frames before would have, were he being used as a projectile by the team's telekinetic - who is next to appear on the screen and is seen demonstrating the exact ability to project things forcefully numerous times moments before and moments after the particular incident in question, suggesting that perhaps the sudden skyward exit of one of the guards was in fact his doing.

Actually I should say it just isn't the part we are talking about, because that telekinetic guy definitely throws a lot of bad guys into other bad guys.

After taking an honest and hard assessment of my core beliefs and attitudes towards life, I am willing to accept the folly of my former directives. I've stepped outside my ego and been humbled, and after a revisiting of the clip in question I have accepted that it is in fact an unknown flying dude that either assisted the team temporarily or whose appearance, perhaps, was merely an extension of Legion's madness manifested in the chaos of the situation.

Either way, the important thing is that I was wrong and I have brought U.F.M. into my heart. Let my previous post stand as evidence of a time when I was truly lost.

I have a theory that Unknown Flying Man has made several other appearances throughout the show's run, but no one noticed because he was flying so darn fast. I think we need to go through each episode frame by frame to determine when and where he appears.

Truly the work that matters. I suggest focusing on any scenes apparently involving teleportation - this could easily be more missed appearances of flying man making a rapid entry/exit to assist his fellow mutants.

I guess the biggest drawback of his powers (which clearly enable him to travel at incredible velocities but never actually stop) is the lack of real human contact so his character is in some ways a reflection of Sydney's own struggles with physical touch. Probably the most tragic character on the show, looking forward to his S2 arc.

There's a person swirling around the helicopter. It's pretty subtle. I also liked the scene of David killing that guy when he gets picked up off the ground.

I read the pilot episode since someone posted about it and there was nothing really interesting beside Cain Marko (!) being the guy who escorts David out of the pool and David giving his sister nosebleeds growing up. Here it is if anyone cares: http://scripts.tv-calling.com/script/fx-legion-1x01-pilot/
