:siren: This game is officially confirmed for a Personal Computer release with an ETA of August 7th :siren:

Horizon: Zero Dawn (or maybe without the colon; none of the sites seem to agree) is an open-world robot dinosaur hunting game made by the Killzone people. Against those odds it looks like it's actually reviewing really well. You play as a tribal huntress named Aloy who apparently travels across the land using her detective vision to scavenge every part of a laser T-rex to make sick rear end cyberbows just like our ancestors did. It sounds from the reviews exactly like what you've come to expect from recent AAA open-world games and that it doesn't necessarily do anything new, just that it does everything really well.

Reviews:
Giant Bomb - 5/5
Polygon 9.5/10
The Jimquisition 9.5/10
IGN 9.3/10
Gamespot 9/10
Gameinformer 8.75/10

Digital Foundry PS4 vs PS4PRO FPS Test

ESRB Rating : T for TEEN
Content Descriptors: Alcohol and Tobacco Reference, Blood, Mild Language, Mild Sexual Themes, Violence
Rating Summary: This is an action/role-playing game in which players assume the role of a hunter (Aloy) surviving through a post-apocalyptic world. Players guide Aloy as she learns to hunt robotic creatures and animals in the wild. Aloy uses arrows, spears, and explosive traps to injure and kill machines, boar, and occasional human enemies. Animals and humans emit small puffs of red blood when struck; one sequence depicts an abandoned camp with large blood stains on rocks and trees. The game contains a brief reference to sexual material (e.g., “Eighteen months hard labor in exchange for thirty years lounging around Elysium watching porn?”). During the course of the game, characters sometimes reference controlled substances: "I went to the beer fount too many times to count"; “I'm just a brewer"; "I know I'm a useless drunk"; "A tobacco cigarette?"; "Speaking of which, mind if I smoke?" The words “a*s,” “bastard,” and “b*tch” appear in dialogue.

Horizon launches February 28th in America, March 1st in Europe, and March 2nd in Japan

I guess you get to shoot Liger Zeros in this game

Niche games also tend to have more drip info and weird drama around them to talk about. I honestly have no idea what this thread would be about before the game came out. I guess everyone talking about zoids?

Yeah I was pretty much at a loss what to even put in the OP for now except for reviews, so if anyone has rad suggestions to add let me know. I assume the GB guys will do a Quick Look at some point this week too.

The most damning criticisms I've read say it adheres a little too closely to the conventional open world RPG formula, which is probably true if you're already burned out on them, but I've only played a couple over the past few years (DA:I, TW3, RotTR) so to me it's all still pretty fresh. These kinds of games live and die by their settings and I'm totally into the setting.

Yeah, in terms of Ubisoft-style games I played uh, Black Flag like 4 years ago? And I got Shadows of Mordor for like a buck in a bundle but I ended up hating it.

There's actually only been three good video games ever; Fire 'n Ice for the NES, EHRGEIZ: GOD BLESS THE RING, and 3D Pinball for Windows – Space Cadet.
