psst you wanna do a communism?

Guys, this is not difficult. The hole is capitalism. Bea even blatantly states this.
As someone who hangs out with Scott and Bethany from time to time (more the latter since she is in my DSA chapter's Eco-socialist committee) it is capitalism. I mean these guys who in the fall like to hike on the Ghost Town trail which is basically just a trail of 19th-early 20th century towns in Western PA that were ruined by capitalism and greed

Another thing as someone from this region is just how well this game captures Rust Belt towns and how many people either want to leave but can't or hope things take a turn for the better.
Though the lack of Pittsburghese is a bit disappointing

Forgot that the local media did a video on NITW back in April

I'd be interested in a setting going back thirty years, where we have the hindsight watching the dumpster fire in slow motion eating up the town.
Set it in the 1890s/early 1900s and make it a strategy game based on worker organization/striking

I did not find her criticisms of the game very compelling. I understand she would rather have the town in the game represented in a different light, but that might not focus the game narrative as the designers wanted too. It is pretty far from being "Trumpian Propaganda".
That and the town in the game is based off the experiences that Bethany had growing up in a small Rust Belt town in Western PA

Ah, the ol' MovieBob. Basically the people that right-wingers think all liberals are actually do exist and they're as horrible and miserable as you could ever imagine. The internet has every strawman from the fevered human imagination out there somewhere.
Yeah like anytime a hurricane or natural disaster hits the South you see libs going "well they voted for Trump they deserve this :smug:" or right now with the coal miners strike in Kentucky they do the same poo poo and no wonder Dems lose those (because those people suffering barely vote to begin with because they have more important things to do like feed their families)

I was surprised to find out one of the writers grew up around the route 22/Altoona area, because I did as well - and I also look back on my time there with tremendous affinity for the area itself but the people truly are mostly awful with a few pockets of decent folks.

Mostly if you are white you can pass through and be fine. If you're sticking around you'd better be white, christian, and straight.

Which is not to say there aren't also small progressive enclaves in those areas, it just tends to also be in the towns with Colleges or something. It's not all irredeemable but for sure this is a lot of racism and homophobia still running rampant.
Yeah I have lived on 22 most of my life, right on the edge where Allegheny County meets Westmoreland (Monroeville), but yeah you have your college towns like Indiana, though honestly towns like Murrysville are pretty bad because a lot of rich folks moved there for the cheaper taxes, but still accessible to Pittsburgh.
