Does this game have point and click elements like puzzles, inventory, dialogue choices and exploration? Or is it more of a linear "move right or left to advance plot" kinda thing? Trailers make it hard to tell.

you find stuff layng,on the sidewalk and use the right analogue to poke it with a stick its amazing

does anyone who backed this know if the animated shorts for backers will get shared now that the games out? the tier I backed it at i only got to see the one where greg and angus make out at the football game

Ok so I was really hyped for this game but after realizing this parallel I'm 2x as hyped. Could it be the first game I buy at full price???

Anyway, I've seen a couple of reviewers saying the controls are iffy? Can anybody c/d? Does it run smoothly on lovely computers?

I get some weird framerate stuff in the urevolution and the thing above the foodcourt in the mall but other than those couple of places it seems fine, playing it on a dual core pentium with no graphics card on my htpc since i figured it wouldnt be too demanding but maybe ill try streaming it from my desktop and see if that changes anything

Same here, I have an i5 and an older video card and it looks great. The graphics style translates really well to a television for Steam link.

I'm not very far in yet but it touches very lightly and subtly on some serious issues, I really like how that's handled.

Also the characters are adorable. The little facial animations when Mae jumps :3:

i jump all over so i can stare at her face get all smushy at the top of her head. i also like to watch gregg infinitely flap

Also, I thought that I combed every inch of the town every day, but somehow I guess I never found Lori or got any of her scenes at all! Where does she even hang out?

near the statue in the center of town the first one or two days, then two buildings to the left of the church stairs, way up high kittycorner to the window with the parade floats/rat family

Ending stuff

I mentioned something about "I don't mind the delay happened, good time for a game like this to come out and be a distraction" on the kickstarter page and Scott Benson said I'd see once the game was out but the plot ended up becoming more appropriate than planned thanks to current events. it definitely felt like 'explain how a right wing conservative thinks using cult symbolism to the average liberal millenial'

Scott B is a real dreamboat

I was very sad when i heard he had passed out from sleep deprivation and cracked his head on the kitchen floor the week before the game came out :saddowns:

Also I think my playthrough was longer than most people's cause I combed literally the whole town every day and got like 17 hours altogether

I spent a good minute or two just sitting in the food donkey watching all the miracle rat babies

It's kind of amazing how effective the art style is. Was there just one artist on the project? Graphics in indie games are interesting in general since they sort of have an "art from adversity" vibe to them where there's so many limitations in terms of budget, time, complexity and so on. Picking a style that looks good and distinctive and also lets you put out a large volume of content doesn't look easy, but when it works it can make a game more memorable than a dozen triple-A "photo-realistic" games.

The same is true of music in indie games too, I suppose. NITW has great music, and the guy who made all the music also did the programming? Really impressive stuff that such a small team managed to cover so many roles as well as they did.

I'd love to read more about their process and how development went. I get the impression it took longer than expected after the Kickstarter, it probably helps hearing about a project like this after it comes out rather than having to wait for years.

lol the kickstarter started october 2013 and the original shipping date was gonna be january 2015, things balooned a bit when they actially started making the game. 99% of the art/animation was Scott Benson, charles huettner (sp?) did a couple background animations and someone else did the stuff in demon tower

No one knew about the cult, so why would they check the mines? Not that I have a better idea where they would look for everyone but unless they heard Germ's explosion and somehow pieced all that together they would have literally no place to start. Also I imagine they were relieved enough from not having to live in fear of a cult no one would believe them about and who know all their names to be too stricken by the tragedy of their deserved cave murder.

Is there a good solution for the awful screen tearing in the game? I tried to force Vsync through my graphics card, but it didn't seem to work.

I didn't get any screen tearing but I was playing it on integrated graphics. I did get a big frame rate hit in the graveyard and the u rev though
