I don't think cheering on the deaths of abusers/rapists actually fixes anything about the situation besides offering catharsis to people who aren't even personally involved. If the entire focus on an issue like this is about punishment, the result is the offenders just trying harder to avoid punishment instead of seeking help/actually make amends for what they did.

yeah, retribution only gives catharsis to bystanders online who have no actual connection to the people actually involved. ill admit there's a cheap sense of moral satisfaction from cheering on the death of a person who did bad things but that doesn't actually help the victims or help stop the same thing from happening to other people in the future.
