OK I looked into what Hillary herself said, apparently the real message was "Banks kept us strong after 9/11."
actually her real message was that she took millions of dollars from wall street into her own personal bank account shortly before running for president in 2016 because 9/11

also don't bring up the iraq war vote, libya, honduras, syria, yemen, or saudi arabia

comedyblissoption

yes the house of saud giving giant donations to the foundation before and after receiving favorable deals from the US while hrc was SOS does not even rise to the appearance of impropriety

comedyblissoption
Mar 15, 2006

it doesn't matter if it was doing anything bad or good. the appearance of quid pro quo in itself even to a good charity is bad.

comedyblissoption
Mar 15, 2006

the common defense of democrats and its sycophants to getting giant bags of money from wall street is that there is no quid pro quo and that the money doesn't influence: http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/12/bank-reform-barney-frank-wall-street-213412

it doesn't matter if the democrats were somehow saints and were never influenced by the donations and never gave favorable treatment to wall street. the incredible appearance of impropriety undermines trust in the party, the government, and its officials.

it doesn't help that the democrats also did give incredibly favorable treatment to wall street, but that's a separate point.

clinton knew she was running for president and that wall st was unpopular but still couldnt help herself from shoving wall street money into her pockets lol

just a reminder that dems are complaining about what comey did even though comey literally closed the investigation before the election after the FBI did their due diligence analysis

comedyblissoption
Mar 15, 2006

the sum result of the investigation by the FBI was that there was nothing there

that's what democrats are complaining about lol

comedyblissoption
Mar 15, 2006

comey was stuck between a rock and a hard place politically and chose transparency with the american public about what was going on

the fact that the investigation was wrapped up ASAP and concluded there was nothing new, the democrats should've stopped talking about it. it's insane that democrats still talk about it as if it was a significant factor in the election.

what subset of the electorate does this speech appeal to except the most diehard clinton supporters given the context that clinton was being criticized as a pro wall-street candidate?

this speech only makes people dislike her more and people make fun of her for it to this day. hillary was a terrible candidate.

quote:

"Not everything is about an economic theory, right?" Clinton asked her audience of a few hundred activists, most of them wearing T-shirts from the unions that had promoted the rally. "If we broke up the big banks tomorrow — and I will, if they deserve it, if they pose a systemic risk, I will — would that end racism?"

"No!" shouted her audience.

"Would that end sexism?"

"No!"

"Would that end discrimination against the LGBT community?"

"No!"

"Would that make people feel more welcoming to immigrants overnight?"

"No!"

"Would that solve our problem with voting rights, and Republicans who are trying to strip them away from people of color, the elderly, and the young?"

"No!"

"Would that give us a real shot at ensuring our political system works better because we get rid of gerrymandering and redistricting and all of these gimmicks Republicans use to give themselves safe seats, so they can undo the progress we have made?"

"No!"

the drafted democratic party platform was not allowed to disavow the TPP in any capacity

clinton surrrogates in a media gaffe assured others that hillary secretly supported TPP

I think if microsoft ran an ad for one of their email services and immediately after a clinton ad comes on trump gets a few thousand voters
did these same internal focus groups realize that when the media and democrats screech about russians hacking the elections, voters misinterpret this as russians literally hacking voting machines and changing votes as opposed to the allegation they just leaked some embarassing emails

"russian email leaks" just doesnt have the same misinformative ring to it as "RUSSIANS HACKED THE ELECTIONS"
