What's funny is that in a odd perversion of the idea that the free market will provide Bitcoin is basically being shadow regulated by a bunch of money launderers and drug sellers who want to protect their assets. They are fixing exchanges and controlling the market so that they can use it as a reliable currency to facilitate crime (especially now that Steam is becoming more locked down, although for small scale laundering Steam can't be beat) it's just the only people who are reaping the benefit from it are criminals. So little Danny nerd in his moms basement drying strawberries and tanking the power bill gets none of the protections of a regulated system unless he wants to interact with the people who are granted that ability (IE if he wants to buy drugs) but the Russians and other people who are using it to facilitate drug smuggling and large scale money laundering reap all the benefits.

I got about three words in and aint gonna read the rest of this

the securities law violations endemic in bitcoin have mostly gone under the radar. occasionally the SEC or CFTC will do something like fine Bitfinex some trivial sum. but basically, the SEC could imitate an anvil falling from the skies on the whole crypto sphere any time they wanted to. what they're actually doing is taking a super-light touch, presumably on the notion that so far the bitcoiners are mostly just stealing from each other and maybe with all this horseshit a pony might one day emerge. otoh, note that they're now prosecuting the worst ICOs, and actively reaching out to the borderline ones suggesting they get their paperwork sorted out.

bitcoin is a honeypot and comedy goldmine.
I bought your book by the way.
