The problem is you have the AG lying under oath.

It doesn't matter what he lied about. Its still perjury. And then it delves back into the issue of collusion with a foreign government to undermine the government of the US. If at any point the Russians worked with the Trump campaign its sedition. And anyone who was part of the contacts has committed sedition.

So now you have perjury and sedition being committed by the Attorney General. Plus all the other tack on poo poo like obstruction.

Its not going to snow ball unless the press keeps stories about it rolling out through 2018 and the Dems take control of both branches of Congress. Then they can clean house of republican committee leads, launch congressional investigations and then impeach Trump and everyone associated with the campaign. Or something happens that flips a large portion of reds against Trump and they dial up the pressure on congress to a point they can't not go after him. Which may actually happen when he signs off on Congress gutting SS/Medicare and then lets them cut infrastructure. Basically August may turn into a blood bath/French revolution. Because thats when the tax reform drops and people find out they lost ACA, infrastructure, SS/Medicare just to make it so the new tax reform can use the poor and middle class bankroll the wealthy and corporations.

Democrats won't impeach trump in 2018/9.

They gotta win seats to so that and their counter to Trump's Congress speech (state of the Union or w/e) was loving terrible lol.

Plus the new DNC leader won't rule out Hillary running in 2020 again (probably won't happen but the fact that they can't say she won't is pretty lol)

Even if they get majority I don't think they impeach. They'll just hold out for 2020.

I dunno if you know this, but Donald Trump appointed the Executive Director of a white supremacist hate group to be the Chief of Staff for CBP. Admittedly the hate group is for egg-heads and academics to influence policy and stop non-white immigration in order to preserve a white majority in the US rather than skinheads knocking over Jewish tombstones, but there you have it.

Yeah, I remember looking into her background when they announced. But what gets me is that it seems like...the organization is saturated, all the way down, with people who just don't seem interested in seeing brown people as human. Like, I'm sure it's not everyone, but it's enough.

Honestly, from a lot of these stories, these people should not work for CBP, "following orders" or not.

Some quick notes after a night of news comedy:

- I generally link twitter because it's easy as hell on a phone and makes article clickthroughs easy. If you're quoting someone's twitter post, remove the twitter link so the quote doesn't have the blown-up picture too for those on desktops.

- For tweetstorms (the thing where people respond to themselves like 15-20 times), just link the first tweet. If they're interested in the whole thing, they'll click through and it's easy to read.

- Don't get too worked up about all the poo poo about 'normalization' and what's bad and good to react with. Hail gay satan and enjoy this poo poo as it happens because we're getting an absolutely incredible amount of jaw dropping news on a daily basis and it's hilarious watching assholes get what they deserve, even if it doesn't lead to actual charges and stuff. Plus I'm sure that stuff will be coming soon enough :)

Sweden to reintroduce conscription amid rising Baltic tensions

quote:

Sweden is to reintroduce conscription due to difficulties filling the ranks on a voluntary basis at a time of increased security concerns, the defence minister has said.

Sweden ended compulsory military service in 2010 but military activity in the Baltic region has increased after Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014, prompting Sweden to strengthen its military preparedness.

The draft will cover men and women born in 1999 or later, though only a small minority will be selected to serve.

The defence minister said the move was in response to a deteriorating security environment in Europe.

“We have had trouble staffing the military units on a voluntary basis and that needs to be addressed somehow,” Peter Hultqvist told public service radio.

The lack of military preparedness has been exposed in recent years, such as when Russian warplanes carrying out a mock bombing run on Sweden in 2013 caught air defences off guard.

The government’s decision entails the call-up of 4,000 men and women for military training in 2018-19. Hultqvist said motivation would be an important factor when selecting recruits.

This is basically the Swedish government saying "We are not prepared to give soldiers decent wages so we are going to force people into conscription".
Never mind the fact that you easily can get out of this by appearing as if unfit for duty.

As it is, recruits are payed lovely wages, including having to pay for accommodation in the barracks.
The military never left the mindset of having a conscripted army.

Our neighbours Denmark and Norway have for some reason less problems with this (as far as I know).

So I didn't watch the video to hear the direct quote, but didn't sessions say he never met with Russians to discuss campaign issues?

I mean he met with them, but they didn't ask if he did it as a member of the armed services committee, just as a campaign member.

Wouldn't be surprised if that's the angle taken to avoid perjury.

He probably will take that stance, but he didn't actually say the bolded part. I imagine it will be an "oops, imprecise language!" situation. Al Franken didn't even ask about Sessions talking to Russians. He just volunteered that part. So it reads like:

Franken: Did the Trump campaign have contact with Russians?

Sessions: I DIDN'T DO IT!

The perjury thing is a long shot anyway. The important thing is him recusing himself from any investigations. Until now, the GOP has been dragging their feet on calling for it.

The video isnt the only time he lied. People are sent written questions as a part of confirmation. One question asked if he had met with anyone or if he had information about any trump people meeting with Russians. Sessions' one word response was "no."
