He probably will take that stance, but he didn't actually say the bolded part. I imagine it will be an "oops, imprecise language!" situation. Al Franken didn't even ask about Sessions talking to Russians. He just volunteered that part. So it reads like: Franken: Did the Trump campaign have contact with Russians? Sessions being some Russian collaborator seems far fetched to me. But the amount of people who were screaming about Benghazi and Emails but immediately dismiss any Russian poo poo as fake news is exasperating. Especially with more shady types like Flynn and Manafort. Like there are still people saying "where's the evidence?!" regarding the very idea of Russia making a conscious effort to interfere with the campaigns. I understand skepticism of collusion, and I don't buy the "Clinton won if not for Russia" camp. I can't imagine how you get to the point of refusing to acknowledge that Russia played a part, though.

However, thanks to amendments to UCMJ in the past few years, article 120C includes sharing of photos wearing underwear or less that you don't have consent to share or which were taken when the person had a reasonable expectation of privacy. DOD instructions mandate that commanders make an effort to ensure a servicemember's state of residence is aware if they are punished under UCMJ or via letter of reprimand. More and more states are adding such offenses to their "you are a sex criminal" lists.

Just lmao if you seriously think we should criminalize a consenting adult couple sharing nude pics or making a sex tape witch each other. Article 120C already covers a lot of this stuff pretty well. And blaming someone for taking a picture and then it gets stolen or redistributed without consent is somewhat like blaming someone for having money that gets stolen.

CommieGIR posted:I think, if I was a commander, my questions would be: "If you can't keep a nude that someone sends you private between you and the consenting party who sent it, why should I trust you with Intel or Combat tasks?" That would be a good point if the nudes were on SIPR or in a SCIF and then ended up on Facebook because the person violated classified procedures. To take it farther, if you didn't stop someone from raping you when drunk, how can I be sure you wouldn't be overpowered and interrogated while drunk? Thousands of military members conspire to break the law and distribute nudes... "But what about the person who took a selfie?"

That experience led to Pence being more lower case liberal than most GOP lawmakers were about immigration. So the dynamic with Trump is interesting. That's at least part of why it's been reported on more and an Irish ambassador(?) recently was a bit on the nose with Pence about it when he gifted Irish census documents with Pence's grandfather's family history details to him.
