Thing I learned from tonight's very bad and boring "rivalry game": Chicago employs a gentleman named Schmaltz.

As an aside, is it a rivalry because Pittsburgh crushed Chicago in the SCF in the 90's?

Nah, he's good with that. Players peak at around 24 then stay around 80-90% of that until they're about 29. 30 is the general start of a decline, and there's not a precipitous drop off until about 32.

Eh Pastrnak does that like 2-3 times a game... minus maybe the scoring bit.
Plus it's on Fleury so it doesn't count.

How does Iginla get traded for a conditional 4th round with 50% cap retention? I guess it's just a rental but that seems pretty cheap for a guy like him.

The recent Rangers-Habs game was really great so back off.

Honestly the Rangers are so banged up and who the gently caress knows how AV will pair up the defense once Girardi and Klein are healthy so they may drop down to WC2?

The Habs have 5 2nd rounders in the next two years. They also have their firsts and thirds.
Are they terrible pickups that indicate a bad train of thought from the GM? Yes. Should the Habs be mocked for it? Yes. Is this the sign of a franchise going from "decent, playoff second round" fodder to "garbage, 50 years of no cup" fodder? No.

Sure, but Steve Ott and Dwight King.

My fav part of that video is watching the three defenders stack up in the slot leaving that dude time to just pick a corner. Like goalie doesn't challenge, defenders don't even stick check him until the shot is already in the net.

gently caress Kane but yeah in what way is a game boring when it has a hat trick, 66 shots on goal (including 31 in the 2nd period alone), and 51 hits? That sounds like a pretty fun game.

It was a "rivalry" because they're both recent cup champions I guess.

And yes it was a pretty badass game. Only one penalty the whole game.. that's the way it should be. Just let the skill guys go at it.

To be fair clamping your arm on an opponent's stick is a dick move.

But it's not an issue if you keep your stick on the goddamn ice.

But it's Duncan Keith, he can apparently get away with murder with nothing but a slap on the wrist. Either he has dirt on the refs or he sends them chocolates every holiday.
